Based on the USA Soccer guy shorts I find it strangely heartwarming. Ted's attitude is infectious and when the gruff older player realises he's been played like a fiddle is great!

I'm 3 episodes in and loving it
I'd imagine every viewer is rooting for Ted to be a success at this soccer ball thing smile

This is rather good, and at last something on Apple TV+ worth watching, most of what’s on there is of little interest (won’t be paying when free trial is up!)

Anyway, it’s clear who Roy Kent is based on biggrinbiggrin They even made the name rather similar biggrin

I thought Ep 4 was a little slow but Ted’s effect on everyone he comes across is amazing to see. And Anthony Head plays a sleazeball so well.

+1 for this, we really enjoyed the first season, despite my famed hatred of football and anything connected to it.

Thought I'd revive this thread.

Have binge caught up with both S1 and now S2, and now eagerly awaiting the last 3 episodes,

This is great, heartwarming stuff and very nicely done.

I agree except I thought the most recent episode was ridiculous.

Agreed, it was just horrible, a terrible mistake on the part of the producers.

It seems to have turned into some bad 1990s romcom (without the com).

So from what I’ve read they had ten Episodes all written and ready to go but Apple said they wanted twelve episodes this season so the Christmas ep and Coach Beard got added. I didn’t mind the coach beard one at all. fk off Thierry Henry!

Yep the funeral episode was a shocker. Overly sentimental and not one laugh in the whole episode. Put it in a bin with the Xmas special.

The Beard one was also a bit of a misfire but it did have its moments and it was good to spend a bit of time with one of the more intriguing characters.

Hopefully the show gets back on track for the rest of the season.

If not at least Foundation is off to a promising start

They’ve ruined this by forgetting it’s about football, with Scrubs we had the relationship stuff but always with a medical core. He’s lost his touch.

I don’t think it’s ever really been about football. I’d go so far as to say it’s not even a sports comedy, the football is almost an after thought.

The footy content in series 1 was 2/3 times higher than now. This season we’ve got love triangles, love mismatches and slow burn falling in love - and nothing else - a bit of death aside.
Disappointed.
