Steve Wright and serious jockin on radio 2
Discussion
Anyone care to explain what the difference is with his serious jockin (no g) feature on Radio 2 at 4.15 on Friday's and his "normal" show? Seems exactly the same to me...crap.
I'm sure old Steve is losing the plot big time.
It was amusing for a couple of weeks, but after nearly two years it gets on my tits.
Yes, I know I can tune into another channel..........

Every few months there is a knock Steve Wright thread on here. If he's a crap DJ, the OPs are crapper at searching the forums.
I can't think of a less offensive DJ than SW and it would seem R2 don't think he's done a bd job over the last XX number of years either-he's still on there after all.

Can't stand it, only bit of his show I like is the oldies. Mayo suits me for drivetime for me their best prime time DJ, and Evans is bearable for the occasional commute, can't listen to Vine, although that's more the unwashed fault.
I share your pain brother. I've got Feltz / Evans on the inward commute and Mayo on the homeward. I kind of look forward to the homeward, although the pause for thought is the only thing I'll listen to before putting my Manhatten Transfer cassette in.LaurasOtherHalf said:

Steve Wright's show on Sunday is actually rather good, it seems like he's almost a different person.I can't think of a less offensive DJ than SW and it would seem R2 don't think he's done a bd job over the last XX number of years either-he's still on there after all.
He's also not a bad interviewer.
My issue is with his idiotic serious jockin (no g) feature.

So is he crap on a regular (non Friday) basis or do you like him?I'm sure old Steve is losing the plot big time.

And really, apart from the news, travel, big interview and 60 second infills does anyone really listen to anything he does/says? He plays decent music and that's surely all he needs to do.
Apart from all the above, I do quite like the factoids. If you don't, as you say there are a multitude of other channels to choose from.

Depends who's doing the PFT. Haven't really warmed to the vic off Gogglebox, but some of the others are ok despite my rampant atheism. I'd almost prefer Evans to be talking about himself more, genuinely interested in his car passions despite his over indulgences, he didn't suit top gear but I think there's a series in there somewhere.Drivetime always seems to be amusing, despite trying a bit too hard on the confessions. Bit of Dr Mosh always welcome.

I hate his interviewing style. It always sounds like the blurb he is reading he has never read before and often makes a comment about how he didn't realise something about this person, then asks inane questions and tells them how amazing they are. He has also mixed people up with his off the cuff questions more than once. AND they always ask for more information or drop hints about new things shows or movies - 'without spoiling it' immediately followed by a spoiler. He's also not a bad interviewer.

Don't think he has realised that no one is recording on to cassettes any more so singing over the end of tracks is a deeply annoying waste of time.
Anyway, LOVE the show Steve *round of a applause*

I like Steve Wright, even Serious Jockin'. There's a lot of choice on the radio these days. Find something you like and stop cloggin' the internet with serious bhin'.
I saw a headline that said Radio 2 re vamp schedule... I thought finally they have put the old boy out to pasture.... but no it was listen to the band and the onanist entertains. mumble mumble missed opportunity.

I can't stand any of the DJ's on radio 1 so guess what, I don't listen to radio 1.
Just put a CD in or switch channels if you don't want to listen to what's on.
You wouldn't go to a restaurant and order food that you know you don't like and complain whilst eating it!
