The man in the high castle
Discussion
Just started watching this on Amazon. First two episodes already available with the rest to follow in a few weeks time. It's basically about an alternate world where the Allies lost WW2 and the USA is divided up between Nazi Germany and Japan with a neutral zone dividing the two. First impressions are it's going to be very good.
I watched the first two episodes today and really enjoyed it.
It's a really good concept (which was also used to good effect in the Video Game "Wolfenstein: The New Order") and I'm a fan of PKD's books although oddly I have not read this one. Plus I also like alternate history and retro-futurism. So this is right up my street.

Didn't know this had been made into a series. Will check it out, thanks.
Never got it back (and he's moved to Malta now!!).

This is actually from a Philip K. Dick book.
The book's great, interesting story - different to his AI type stories that have previously been made into films.
Unfortunately I leant my copy to a mate before I had a chance to read it.The book's great, interesting story - different to his AI type stories that have previously been made into films.

Watched the first two this weekend, thought it was good. I hadn't heard of it as a Philip K Dick book, the whole German/Japanese occupation is interesting. When do new episodes go online?
All of the remaining episodes are scheduled to be made available on 20th November, all at once. Watched the whole 10 episodes today, as it was top of the picks.
Very deeply disturbing if you're in the wrong/right frame of mind, mostly shot in half light/sepia 'ish which adds to its appeal.
First 3 episodes are gripping, but I felt the middle 3-4 were really over egging the pudding. Not bad, just taking an hour to take the whole story line another small increment further.
Last episode was very good.
The krauts even nicked concorde!
It had elements of 1984, Tenko, Colditz, dads Army, The matrix...
Overall 8.5/10.0

Yeah I found 3/4/5 slow, but they did add to the other storylines quite nicely, just starting the final episode.Very deeply disturbing if you're in the wrong/right frame of mind, mostly shot in half light/sepia 'ish which adds to its appeal.
