OK, I had just started to watch Saw 'the final chapter' which seems to be the the last in a long line of pretty poor films. So I'm about 25 minutes in and I decide to turn it off - not because it's a bad film, I just really couldn't continue watching that level of gore.

The gory bits were pretty poor to watch with the crappy CGI but - WOW!! It was far too much for me to handle.

This is the first time I have ever turned a film off cause I couldn't handle it, I generally have a pretty weak stomach and I'm very, very squeamish so it's perhaps not totally unexpected but I'm pretty irked about it nonetheless. It's not really my kind of horror film though, much prefer there to be a monster in it.

Anyway, got me thinking, has anyone here had to turn off a film before because it was a bit too much?

While I await your experiences, I'm going to man-up with some beer and a shot of moose testosterone

I can't watch the turtle scene or the monkey scene in Cannibal Holocaust.

They make me not want to watch the film again, or at least, only watch a version with those scenes missing.

Anything with Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Will Ferrel in it.

Other than that, I wouldn't watch The Human Centipede if you paid me.

"The night watchman". I didn't like this film .
It was during WW2 in Germany , a lot of rapey/gay things going on.
And yes it was a long time ago ,but what rubbish.

I stumbled with the Saw films too - but you did a damn sight better than me!

A friend introduced me to the first one and it totally twisted my melon for the following few days!! I've avoided the whole collection since (and I'm usually fine with horror, blood & guts). When I inquired how the same friend got on with 'final chapter' she just sent me a text saying - 'yer not bad, wrapped up the whole collection nicely'

Others:

human centipede - not even giving that one a second glance thanks!

Dude wheres my car - Maybe I was having an off day.

Watership down. I've still never forgiven my mother for letting me watch that as a lad.

I can't see Julia Roberts now without thinking of her Notting Hill premiere appearance with hairy armpits.

Scary enough without seeing the film.

s**t, i quite like it....... paperbag

(ok, the floppy haired sop is a tad annoying, but the supporting cast is excellent)

Back on Topic, no matter how many times i have seen it, the opening sequence of "Saving Private Ryan" still has me looking away in places (and the "knife" incident later in the film)

I "video-googled" that, read the synopsis, and moved on.
