just watching The Mummy (1999) - what a fantastic film, even after 25 years. Yes some of the SFX are showing their age but the casting is top-notch, the story fun and it moves along at a good clip - very similar I guess to Indiana Jones 1 & 3 (even though I like IJ2 I'll admit it's not as good as the other 2).

3.5 canopic jars out of the 4 needed
just finished The Mummy Returns (2001) and it really isn't anywhere near as good as its forebear - probably not helped by having a precious little kid front and centre and some dreadful (even for the time) SFX when it came to the Scorpion King. That said it's still enjoyable and Imhotep's final moments are (IMO) quite touching 2.5 canopic jars out of the 4 needed

Away for a little break so won't be watching no.3 until, probably, next week (I recall that's it's the weakest of the 3)

The Mummy was great fun. It really hit the sweet spot for that kind of adventure film.

The Mummy is one of those films no matter where it is when you turn over to it, you end up just watching it from that point on.

IIRC didnt The Mummy Returns run out of money and the Scorpion Kings VFX ended being done with 10p from behind the sofa.

the 3rd - ugh

there are rumours as another one - (yes lets not talk about Tom Cruises version) - with the same cast.......

I don't believe it was a budgetary issue re the CGI, they just ran out of time and had to rush it. Due to The Rock's wrestling schedule he didn't have enough time to do all the scanning they needed so they ended up having to work with what they had in a very short time period, hence why it looks as rough as it does. I read somewhere they only finished the scene 8 days before release.

Inside Out 2 becomes the fastest animated movie to pass a $1billion dollars at global box office, beating Frozen 2 by 6 days.

So despite rumours of the death of Cinema, if you make a movie people want to see they will still turn out to see it.

Watched the first one last night, very, very clever and really quite deep!! I have recently had mental health issues and much of it hit the mark for me...I was, I'm not ashamed to say, a bit emotional in places. Gonna see the new one this week.

A very emotional movie as all the good Pixar movies are. The death of the child so the adult can be born.

Great soundtrack as well. Godsmack on the outro a touch of class.

Just back from watching bike riders

I like the way it was shot, I like the way it was cast ( even though Tom Hardy can only do Tom Hardy)

A solid 7 Harley’s out of 10

A Quiet Place: Day One

Not the monster mash, large city, large army assault movie I thought it was going to be. Much different as it follows the story of a dying cancer patient when it all kicks off in New York city.

7-10 Decent, nice story but a tad short and it made the massive sin of a time jump (maybe 10-30 mins) where people figured the sound thing out but it never explained how.

Raymond and Ray, kinda 'nice' quirky film about two brothers arranging their recently deceased father's funeral..Ewan McGregpr and Ethan Hawke, I thought it was better than the rather mediocre reviews it has online...

Saw Inside Out II with my daughter recently. It was very good. I was sceptical that it could be as good as the first one but it was close. I’d watch it again. 8 out of 10.

I went to my local cinema yesterday to see The Bikeriders. I thought it was very good. Bit violent in places but well acted especially by Jodie Comer. Her accents are so convincing. Definitely well worth seeing.
