It's amazing these people exist to be put into responsible positions.

Having the right background and school attendance is no substitute for incompetence.

I was reading his career resumé on Wiki. He has quite an impressive record in business to be fair. So, the plummy voice, rather waffly "old chum" act he put on at the hearing was pretty much a front to what is probably quite likely a cruel and ruthless bd when it comes to decision making.

You are probably right...IIRC he was head of the Court's Justice system at one point in time so, despite saying many times he's not a lawyer, no doubt had access to some of the best legal advice available.....hence probably why he played the waffly, bumbling fool? I probably let my total disdain and contempt of the man get the better of me!

It seems to be a practised response for some of those who have gone through the English Public School system and have achieved high office - whether in government, business or both. A certain Boris Johnson comes to mind.

Heartless thugs dressed up as bumbling idiots. They are anything but bumbling or idiots.

Don't let them fool you.

Do you reckon the "hair thing" is a learned / contrived thing as well?

Without doubt.

Looking like a clown allows you to act as a thug.

Many horrible people in history have used this ploy - off hand I can think of Herman Goring and Idi AMin. I am sure there are others.
