Wouldn`t Italy be the ideal place to find Maserati parts?

Having been to Ferrara many times I can only suggest you have a look if you get the chance. Wonderful place.

(Don't like the guy either but it's clear money talks in this event now)

Skylinecrazy, have you noticed how all the other competitors interviewed seem to be much nicer people, and more interested in cars?

I think this is the BBC trying to mix up Gordon Ramsey and Top Gear. And failing...

I would dearly love to compete in the Mille Miglia, I just think that this twunt would be better suited to the Gumball Rally. rolleyes
You haven't explained why.
Because he seems to be an uncouth, boastful loudmouth, who seems to know nothing about the car he's driving. There are many successful, wealthy collectors of fine automobiles whom I have the greatest respect for, this guy just seems to want to 'flash his cash' on an ego trip 'documentary' to boost his own profile/career.

IMHO
Yes, as i thought.

You're talking ste.
clap

He has just compared his 1948 Maserati to his modern Ferrari (which did 'exactly the same thing' rolleyes), and then said he should have chosen a German car. Now he's going to have strong words with the guy that built the engine. FFS

agreed
he spends £1mil on a car and drives it !
he DOESN'T put it in a garage as a show piece
That's balls. Whether it's his opinion or the editors, the programme presented it as him getting someone else to buy a £600K car and then promplty selling it for £1 million if/when it completes the race.

Hardly the outlook of a petrolhead. Take the rest of his behaviour into account and I can understand why people have taken a dislike to him, and I'm coming from a position of knowing who he is and actually liking some of his previous telly stuff.

I dont see what all the tears are about...

...can't he just come back next year with a well tested, properly shaken down car that he knows inside out?... too sensible?
He isn't as loaded as you would think.... Do you have any idea how much it costs? rolleyes
He just spent ONE MILLION on a car + rebuild that doesnt seem to have been run-in prior to a 1000 mile race.

And you are saying 'he might not be as loaded as I think' hehe

Have you seen the cars he owns? Surely to have a collection like that you must have a significant interest in cars? Seems like a nice enough guy.

I dont think the narration is doing him any favours though - how many mentions of money? Most uncouth.

You trying to say James is not an enthusiast? The others are much nicer people because you dont see them on telly every saturday cooking for other celebrities....

He does seem genuinely gutted. I was kind of expecting him to get over excited and chuck it off a cliff but this was through no fault of his own. Poor guy.

ETA: The only thing that's annoying me about this program is the BBC narration. They won't accept that it really isn't all about the money.
