Possible my lighting wasn’t great, but I could barely see what was going on for about half the episode.

it does appear that HotD is getting stronger as it goes on. I even didn't mind Matt Smith this week!

Agreed. He could have chemistry with a rock. I was sceptical at first, but now we're seeing some deeper character development and the odd twist and turn starting to materialise it's really reeled me in. It's nice to have something to look forward to on television again. With this and Rings of Power I'm spoilt!

Though it didn't move the plot on much, I think it was good.
Matt Smith is still the only interesting character/actor. Paddy is good and does brooding well, but the character is dull.

Trouble is they've done it that often you could see it coming a mile away

Another great episode in my opinion. I will miss young Rhaenyra and Alicent, I think they've performed marvellously and will have lucrative careers going forward. The Queens entrance to the wedding was brilliant.

I must admit that I was wondering if the king was for the chop this epi (and would Sky then have postponed yesterday's showing)

Well, people doing stupid things and someone suddenly becoming a scheming bh. It's more like a soap set in the 7 kingdoms.
It's so slow you can jump years without missing anything.

The level of aggression by the Princesses' Knight in the wedding fight seemed completely out of place to me?

Matt Smith starts getting a bit handy with the Princess, next thing her Knight is smashing the living piss out of her betrothed's boyfriend?

Did I miss something?

I think he didn't take too kindly to betrothed's boyfriend informing him that he knew that he had got horizontal with the Princess.

Knight-chap then kicked seven bells out of him so he couldn't tell anyone else.....

I think

He was triggered by the boyfriends conversation about them having to keep their secrets and live with them etc etc. I think because he knew the secret of Ser Criston and the Princess, Criston decided he has to go!

But the secret was already well and truly out - the queen knew it. What difference does the boyfriend knowing make, especially when he made it clear that they should both keep their secrets safe?

And the fight was a while later, wasn't it - not immediately following the discussion?

Boyfriend might use it to blackmail Criston or the Princess.

By killing him, he protects the Princess and takes away one potential leak of her lack of virtue.

Perhaps, but why the (not quite) immediate rage killing, as opposed to a later more stealthy assassination?

IMO it was shame followed by rage by Ser Whitecloak - he was already feeling like he'd betrayed his oath (was meant to remain chaste so he had), then his love told him that his feelings were irrelevant and the crown was all that mattered; finally a fop tells him he can shag princess whenever he wants because prince will be shagging him.... I don't know about there is no fury like a woman scorned - I suspect there's no fury like a knight scorned too

Yes, it was a crime of passion and very stupid.
