Started series 4 and it’s lost it’s way a little in terms of abilities and the different superpowers, seems all over the place between powers and mutations and how things affect different people.

It’s a bit like the zombies in walking dead where the level of actual danger depends on the characters involved.

It’s still fun but feels like some of the magic is missing.

Season 5 will be the last, which seems about right. It should reach a natural conclusion with Butcher putting and end to Homelander, and then dying himself.
If it avoids either of these, I think it would be a cop out.
Until then, I shall continue to enjoy the ride.

Watched the first episode, thought it was a great start to the series with some excellent WTF moments.

I'm pleased to hear they have an end in mind now, it was always a show that needed an endgame and they've been allowed to flesh everything out enough to bring it to a strong conclusion. I'm sure they'll carry some stuff on with Gen V which is the perfect vehicle to hand over to.

I reckon the other way - Homelander ending Butcher, but then being offed by his son, who somehow finds a way to then abdicate his power

First three episodes felt a tad tired and thin to me compared to tales of old, plus perhaps a bit of shock value for its own sake as it's the expected thing rather than being intrinsic to the story.

Let's see if it heats up.

Running out of steam now, should have canned it.

The gore is also cartoonish now, like the budget has been cut or they can't be arsed and are just phoning it in.

Just watched ep1S4 and I’m not sure I can be bothered to continue. It’s lost something. Not sure but it no longer does it for me.

So, here’s a thought about casting.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan from Walking Dead) has arrived as an old colleague of Butcher. Watching them together, I found myself wondering how good he might have been in the role of Billy Butcher. But without the attempt at an English accent.

I'm enjoying it enough thus far (ep3, s4).

It started to tail off in the last series IMO...a few things are getting overly political in this one. But it's still very watchable and will see where it goes.

He played a very good psycho in The Walking Dead and Watchmen so I think he would have been able to play Butcher or Homelander although Antony Starr is brilliant in that role.

Starr is brilliant. I didn't twig, for a long time, that he's Hood in Banshee. I've been rewatching that lately, great series.

"A model hired specifically for the shot."

That must have been an interesting request to the modeling agency.

I laughed a lot at this, you see her almost break character as she tries to stifle a smile behind her hand which just makes the shot even better.

There have been several "wtf" moments in each episode so far which just highlights how lacking some other shows where you go for multiple episodes with nothing happening.

S4 has lost its way. It's falling flat but I still find myself watching it in the hope of crazy stuff from prior series reappearing on screen.

Distinctly average so far, as already said a bit too much reliance on the gore and violence and less on story. Seems disjointed and slightly aimless. "Smartest person in the world" is underwhelming but Homelander's parenting methods remain very entertaining. Will watch anyway but I'm not hooked, especially compared to S1 and S2.

I think episode 4 is one of the best episodes the show has done. Story, script, acting and direction. Top work from all involved.

Agreed, the final moment with Homelander in the lift is <chef’s kiss>

just started watching this, terribly graphic!

Urban's English accent is as bad as Don Cheadle in Ocean's. I would have hoped that a Kiwi would would do a better job!

ETA
(Damn it, just watched a YT video of Urban and Starr (both Kiwis) and they showed a clip when they both first meet. I was like "Ahhh, then ahhh st!")
