just watched The Lost City of Gold - 3.5 stars... what a crock of st. Dreadful acting, cinematography combined with a hokey story - don't bother!!!

Kill Order - quite derivative but a passable action/martial arts film. Does nothing particularly new, but it's entertaining enough with one or 2 surprises en-route

A 2024 remake of "Tle land that time forgot", with C Thomas Howell.
Forget it, truly dire.

Just watched a couple of really good WW2 films. It isn't usually my genre, but these were really great.

The Eye of the Needle (1981) A brilliant performance by Donald Sutherland as a Nazi spy pursued all the way to a Scottish island. Good story, loads of suspense and action, plenty of murder.

The Train (1964) - Another cracker. French resistance try to stop a Nazi train from leaving France loaded with stolen stuff. Lots of tension, action, and plotting. Plus, train crashes. Lots of train crashes! Using proper steam engines! No CGI or models in this one...

Sleeping Dogs

Russell Crowe stars.

Retired cop with Alzheimer's relooks at an old case.

75% of it is good

Ending a bit dodgy.

Found the Alzheimer's bits quite interesting

Just finished bikie wars brothers in arms.

It’s the dramatised story of the milperra massacre. Sons of anarchy but for real. Very hard hitting towards the last couple of episodes. Queue an hour online after looking up interviews etc.

We recently watched the Steve Martin ones and then started on the Peter Sellers ones and only made it halfway through.

They were clever at the time, but I suppose the jokes have been done a million times since then and lost their humour.

I also watched the trailer for 'The Party' and realised that like one night stands, somethings should always stay a pleasant memory.

My Lady Jane - a (semi)humorous alternative history of Lady Jane Grey/9 day queen. If you're looking for (virtually) any historical accuracy go elsewhere - this is a "girl's own adventure" type of thing, quite derivative with magic thrown into the mix.

In fairness I didn't mind it (E1) even though I'm not the target demographic, just need to see how it pans out

When released, the Steve Martin ones were considered a poor substitute for the Peter Sellers films and were roundly panned by critics, so that's rather surprising. But perhaps they have aged better, who knows.

it is weird but I found the whole schtick of Insp. Clouseau being a cuckold quite distasteful which likely detracted from the film - that said the humour was, obviously, dated too (I seem to recall thinking it was the weakest of all the films even way back)

I really enjoyed E1 yesterday - fast paced and funny. Well worth a look imo.
