Lovely plot.

Lovely view.

'Clever' windows that distorted it.

Good thinking.

Loved the house. Just needs some good artworks to add a splash of colour.
Not sure about the staircase though; having to cut up, then re-glue together every time anything larger than a suitcase needs to go up them would be a pain in the bottom!

Now I'm no Gok Wan (thank christ) but even I noticed that he had a size 3 neck and a size 17 collar... hehe

I quite liked this house, but I reckon a few random walls painted in various colours would make it a hell of a lot easier to live in...

ETA - that staircase could have been pretty damn fine... but Oily Fingernails hit the nail on the head... plywood dinosaur... frown

I thought the outside was spot on, the cedar slats and vertical window sections went well - and the courtyard garden area looked cool. The inside was ok even though i didn't like the wood colour thoughout. It was somehow helped by their "normal" used furniture - Eames, panton, barcelona chairs, designer, etc stuff would be a bit predictable in a space like that.

I wasn't keen on the house overall but I liked the amount of light it seemed to have. Shame the fancy glass seemed to distort the view...

When the next owners move in, they will plaster and paint the walls and put skirting boards in.

And what is this current fad for spiral staircases? How would they get a bed upstairs? For tiny holiday cottages and trendy 80s docklands duplexes only.

Overall, that was absolutely horrible. A large shed designed on the notion of a stack of portacabins with a lot of big windows in. Some good tech in that glass, but overall a horrible project. Credit where credit is due - nice lawn.

Design, not my cup of tea. Practicality - they are gonna love having one big space when their kids grow up. Get the picture, one wants to go on the playstation, another wants to listen to music, dad wants to watch the cricket and mum wants to sit quietly and read a book. They need more reception rooms, and as much as I love natural, wood get some wall coverings over that dodgy old ply surface. Also, please buy some more suitable furniture - that dresser and the sofas just do not fit in.

Like the cedar cladding, but purleeeese do not let it go grey and look like an unkempt and malnourished park bench, no matter how it blends into the surroundings. If I let all the paint fall off my soffits, it doesn't like like a tree, it looks like a house that needs maintaining.

As her husband said "Brilliant piece of project management". Yeah, bringing it in 5% over budget and more than 200% of the allocated time, top notch. rolleyes

I want my hour back.

Haaaaaang on a minute..... I've seen those silly lollipop style potted trees somewhere before....

oh thats right, every other episode of grand designs ever made.....

Kinda liked the house but wouldn't spend £700k on that myself... and what is wrong with the odd curtain or carpet, are they banned now? Every week I end up thinking these places must have dreadful acoustics and am I the only one that would hate walking round on a concrete floor all day?

Most bed arrive in kit form dont they - and mattresses go round corners no problem.

I love spiral staircases - but if it was my design & build i'd be tempted to put a fireman's pole next to it biggrin

Really like this project thumbup

Not so keen on his Harry Hill Shirt!

Is it just me does it just look like posh Porta-cabins stacked on top of one another. Cool swimming pool though. Someone should tell that bloke to undo his top button as well.

I *think* I like it. It's nice and roomy, and I quite like the whole open-plan thing... to a point. The staircase was fabulous - I like the idea of using its outer casing - it really gives it a focal point presence.

And as a former engineer I like the construction method, heat recovery pool and the windows. When they convert to solar-charging later I will be keen to find out how much the whole house costs to "run".

But what accent has Mimi got? It seems like a female version of Lloyd Grossman.

When they finish it will be great whistle Big fan of the outside - inside just looks unfinished - needs plasterboard and painting etc!!

I thought it was inspired as a piece of design, clean, well finished and when it 'weathers down' a bit will sit in the space well and blend in just need the surrounding area landscaping. The reflections on the glass should look brilliant.

Well done
