That scene when he lasers the guy in the crowd who threw something at Ryan came about from a Trump quote.

"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? It's, like, incredible."

Homelander has always held back because of wanting people to like him. Now he knows he can get away with murder and can do 'whatever the fk I want' in S4.
His son realised that as well so will turn into a lil i imagine. Which will then lead to Home Lander either/and Butcher wanting to take the kid out

Finally managed to catch up and watch all 3 seasons over the last few weeks. I read the books about 3 years ago, and felt that the TV series captured the feel from the books, even though the storylines differed significantly.

S1 felt like they threw the kitchen sink at the story, which put them in a tricky situation. S2 felt like it was there just to get the story back on track, then S3 finally became the show that it should have been. Regardless of (small) quibbles, it's still been the best Superhero show I've seen for a long time (I'm a fan of Jessica Jones & Wandavision, hate the rest of the MCU).

Overall, I really like what they've done so far, but feel like one more season is about as far as they can take it.

Varsity will be a spin off series picking up on bits of S3 and leading into bits of S4 https://www.cbr.com/the-boys-season-3-varsity-spin...
Correction. The college spin off of The Boys will be called Gen V, not Varsity. https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/the-boys-superher...

Just finished watching S3, and really enjoyed it. I know the ending was a bit, I don't know, unsatisfying maybe, but aside from that I thought the season was excellent.

I know Homelander has to die, but every scene he's in is captivating, Antony Starr is superb, it's all the little looks and facial expressions, such a brilliant character.

Can't wait for season 4, although looks like that will release around September 23, so it's going to be a long wait.

It’s a dilemma for the writers. They can’t kill Homelander because he’s too important to the show. And they can’t fully unleash him, because they won’t go as far as letting him obliterate New York and Washington. So they are trapped finding ways to keep the dramatic tension while keeping the status quo.
The unsatisfactory ending of season 3 is a result of this.
Still, they’re doing a great job within the limitations.

I think what the show needs is some kind of balance to Homelander's powers i.e. something that can fight back against him. Having his as this totally unopposable being isnt good.

For example the anti-Homelander Super Conspiracy would have been good but it was blown out of the water before it even started. Having The Boys take Temp V was also good because it allowed them a half-decent chance of fighting back against him, and also having Soldier Boy around.

Well they could, but they made it much harder for themselves with the changes they already made vs the comics.

Hopefully they do at least plan to bring it an end, because a workable story arc can't involve it running forever.

It was handled in the comics, I know the TV series has veered away from the comic storyline but I'm still a bit reluctant to talk about it!
This link contains how the comics handled it, the link explains why it's impossible for the series to do it in the same way but don't click it if you don't want to know how it was done in the comics. The actual URL gives it away...

fk me, what a series! Every episode you think it won't get more messed up or graphic and then it does. The first episode of series 3 was....!!!!

Homelander is brilliantly bad, BB the same but Starlight and Huey can clear off, both a pair of lightweights in a heavyweight series.

I've just finally watched season 3, it took me 3 days because it was just amazing - the acting, story, background, everything - just so good

Starr though, I cannot praise him enough for Homelander - his portrayal is brilliant, menacing, frightening, angry and terrifying. Just so good.

Starlight was weird though, her face seemed off the whole time...

Roll on season 4...

I thought this too, looked to me like she had had some top lip filler/cheek filler or something?

She was in Jessica Jones on Netflix too (it's on Disney+ now)

I am going to have to give this show another try.

I crashed out halfway through season one, but comments suggest it gets better.
