The bits that did not work for me was the cheap fittings. You've got a wonderful building, but the light fittings looked like they were from B&Q and Next Directory. Sofa in the Cinema room looked like Furniture Village or DFS - probably 4 years interest free, 1st year payment free wink

I still like the building particularly the sweeping side extension. The location was fantastic (apart from being in Wales) wink

Liked this one. Loved the style of his cinema room, hidden away behind the mirror!

Sarah "The wife" was hot I thought, definite MILF.

Poor old Kev. Desperate to say something nasty, but couldn't find fault with what they'd created. Shame.

Can see Kemeys Folly from my parents house, used to Mountain bike in Wentwood. I bet they've not left the house over the last few snowy days, the roads up there are very narrow and very steep.

i could quite happily live in a house like that!
thought they did a very good job, echo the sentiments regarding the 2nd floor bathroom though.

What was Mrs Berry driving - it was some sort of SUV (from the handles on the A post) but couldn't see which? Thought it might have said Nissan on the wheel.

Got to hand it to them - they've made the process look easy and well managed. Good on 'em. Depressingly nice and successful couple. biggrin
yes The usual sgging off of success in the first few posts on here, from first hand experience, Dean is very down to earth genuine guy who worked like hell for what he's acheived. IMO the house is stunning too, had doubts that I'd like it when I heard the plans a few years back and Mrs MoJo didn't like the sound of it at all, having known the two previous owners. Even she said after watching tonight she thought it looked great (apart from the upstairs 'portacabin' add on wink ).

Nice to see the finished project wasn't slated on TV too thumbup

eta. Whereabouts is your parents place Herman ? Must be very close to us scratchchin

Not sure what Sarah drives at the moment but Dean has had a succession of rather nice Porkers (and that coming fron a TVR owner wink )

Probably a Nissan Pathfinder (same interior / front end as a Navara)... although seeing as how she liked to 'fit in' with the trades she might have got a Nav to go with her day-go's and hard hat.

Definitely a bit too much like a pretentious hotel for my liking.

All that money spent, and they have laminated chipboard worktops in the kitchen.... not convinced by the over-glossy 'wood' finish to the cabinets, either - looks like they stole it from a mid 90s Mercedes.

the original castle bit was fantastic, shame they couldn't of continued witht hat theme, rather than build something completly different that detracts from the original building

personally i would have built an old style cottage coming out from the tower off one wall, traditional cob style walls (but could be "high tech" underneath, read as warm) and thatched roof on top. single storey, with some small guest bedrooms in the roof

why do these people spend millions on houses (and this seems to apply too all the houses in this series) and have hardly any bedrooms?

why do the children never feature in the build? when i was abuot 4, my parents had an extension built on our house, nearly doubling the size, so fairly extensive, but not on this scale.
and i was there all the time, we lived in half the house witht he builders in the other house. i remember taking them buscuits and things when they were building
the builders left us with an empty shell and we finnished off the rest, mostly to save money. incedently its not finnished yet (im 20 now) but i was there all the time, especially when my parents were building
where are the kids?

and why do they never plan for the kids, surely they must know they are coming. all the glass tables arent child friendly.

i really want to say,
i doubt very much if the house, even with the additions and restorations is worth what they paid for it. wasn't the bloke a london banker? surely he should know better?

i also feel bad about saying it, because i don't know the people or the situations

and yes, i realise ive just said it

doug

Properly the biggest disaster of a building I have ever seen on Grand Design. The design extension ruined the Original building. The glass extension then had a wall going throw the middle of the building cutting off what could been an amazing space, The architect then stick a second level on top of the extension which just completely fk up the original build even more, utter and complete disregards for an historic building, and then to top it off they render the bloody thing white. I am just amazed they got planning permission.

What a fk up.

The guy (Dean?) was sporting a chunky platinum wedding ring in interviews before the build was completed. He wasn't wearing it in the finished interview. Marriage failed? Sold the family jewels? Any more for any more? getmecoat
