Whilst I sympathise with his plight regarding the absurd planning laws in this country and his equally absurd neighbours I'm not entirely sure of his thought process behind building a 'Cuprinol Castle'

Good on him for getting it done. Hopefully the neighbour will have got a heart attack when he saw it painted orange, and he can now paint the house a sensible colour.

Bloody Channel 4 and their timings - looks like Sky+ missed the end of the programme yet again (it missed it last week too).

There was a peek of the neighbours house near the end, and admittedly the Cuprinol Castle biggrin did tower over it a little, but it was PINK eek

Ahh so the neighbour was worried about no longer being the only gay in the village?

That's one hell of a price to pay for being eccentric. Still, could have been worse, and he got there in the end. Good luck to the chap.

I think the site is here:

[corrected original URL - it's on the A40 West of Stokenchurch... Which is a great road to drive up, by the way]

Its on the back road that goes down the hill from Stokenchurch towards Chinnor. I remember seeing them building the steelwork when I live near there.

George Orwell died in about 1948 so I don't think it's that relevant to the current political environment within the BBC. It might be relevant to how the culture of a licence funded state broadcaster can be so biased while maintaining it's claim to impartiality, though.

I'm wondering how it's related to the Cuprinol Castle though? :P Did he start building it in 1984 wink

If you were Down and Out in London or Paris it would look like a good bet whatever colour it was.

Poor guy...unless you can afford to lose though, he really should have played the planner's game from day one, a few hundred quid would have taken away 18 months of stress, a dislike of the house and a falling out with the nieghbours, who may have over reacted but from what we saw, was impossible to tell.
