Alien: Romulus

Prometheus was brilliant, I honestly love it.
I don't think I watched Prometheus. I watched Covenant, didn't like it. Then decided to watch it again, and really liked it. I think I then watched Prometheus and liked it as well. I think I might need to watch them both again.
I know it's a trope for characters to do something and get killed off through a film, but the characters in Prometheus/Covenant are really really dumb, made worse because they're supposed to be scientists, geologists, archaeologists, ie. clever people, and they make the stupidest decisions.
I've heard a little more about the story, and what the writer / director is going for.
Not really spoilers as this has been said by the makers in interviews,
The characters are the off-spring of Terraformers, not from the planet from Alien/s but another, apparently Romulus, hints at the brother of another settlement which was LV-426 or something (I don't know my Roman myths that well). It tells the story of these people who grew up on these barren planets with nothing much to look forward to than learning their parent's jobs and taking over from them during this multi-generational terraforming process, but they decide to do something else which leads them to be in space in stasis.
The story will be more Alien, than Aliens, more horror than action, but other than that, they're being very tight lipped other than it's going to be shocking and gory.

Well, I like the sound of that. Not really spoilers as this has been said by the makers in interviews,

It's looking like a mash-up of Alien and Aliens... if Fede pulls it off it could be epic.
That is exactly what Alvarez described it as so if you got that vibe from the trailer he's nailed it!![rofl](/inc/images/rofl.gif)
I watched the trailer after replying, god it does look good. I love that they've stuck with practical effects so much, saw a video of the new facehuggers chasing the crew around and it looks terrifying.

Yeah that's the one, I hate spiders and other crawly things so the way this moves is very freaky. C5_Steve said:

I Wish I could say I was holding out hope for this one but after being bitterly disappointed by both Prometheus and covenant, I wont be rushing out to the cinema to see this based on the trailer.

Gotta have faith these days my man. To be fair even those scenes in the cinema will be cool, anything more than that is a bonus I Wish I could say I was holding out hope for this one but after being bitterly disappointed by both Prometheus and covenant, I wont be rushing out to the cinema to see this based on the trailer.

I don't think the trailer gives away anything of the main story. I think based on all previous Alien films it would have been a safe bet that most of the cast are getting killed off I Wish I could say I was holding out hope for this one but after being bitterly disappointed by both Prometheus and covenant, I wont be rushing out to the cinema to see this based on the trailer.

I think there will be enough there to keep you interested, the fact it's set right between Alien and Aliens is enough to have me seated on day 1. Along with the care and attention everyone is bringing to the production.
Whilst I wasn't the biggest fan of Evil Dead Rise, it was an original take and never felt like it was repeating anything. The trailer for that showed some pretty outrageous stuff and what we got was still full of surprises. I'm sure Alvarez knows what he's doing.
