Star Wars: The Acolyte
Discussion
ok finished ep2 - i'm starting to get annoyed by it, like i did with Book of Boba Fett / Ashoka - lots of pensive standing around and saying small things and making stupid mistakes and assumptions that are really poor....and script wise is really starting to creak already - i mean security cameras cleary do not exist in this entire universe.....
and i feel the same mistake is showing here as been made elsewhere - that showing of fun and emotion isnt on the agenda, again similar to Ashoka - jedi themselves are not exciting people to carry a show - especially when they are as dumb as these ones and who's jedi powers seem to come and go as needed for the plot....we want more adult storyline and execution, not music and silence and pensive looks and "oh look she did it." "no she didnt" "oh ok" ........come on........!!!!!
i really hope ep3 starts giving us something because there are only 8 in the series!

Heard a provisional review re Ep3...sounds er...'progressive'.Just one thing to add, the guy from Squid Game, I found out he doesn't actually speak Engligh. He learned his lines for the show and can now speak a bit but he spoke no English before getting the role and worked with several coaches to just get the lines right and then has picked up bits and pieces as he's gone (all his interviews are with a translator). Blew my mind, I'd never have known.

And he's still a better actor than the youngsters ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

Although as I said Dafne Keen is doing well with what she's got. Still can't believe she was/is(?) X23, I guess the face she didn't speak English in Wolverine (and the make up) throws you off.

Fun fact.Gert Frobe who played Goldfinger in…err…Goldfinger spoke next to no English. He spoke his lines phonetically (so they look right) and was overdubbed by another actor.

I hadn't even realised that was her. She was utterly superb in Logan. In this, she's awful I'm afraid. ![rofl](/inc/images/rofl.gif)

He was a brilliant comedy actor. Loved him in the magnificent men films. Gert Frobe who played Goldfinger in…err…Goldfinger spoke next to no English. He spoke his lines phonetically (so they look right) and was overdubbed by another actor.

I think I'm going to give it one more episode and then probably call it a day. In the first two episodes there's already been too many "wait....what?" moments for me to enjoy it I don't mean deep Star Wars canon issues, just things that make no sense whatsoever to me and take me from whatever moment I was supposed to be in.

Well I enjoyed the Critical Drinker reviews more than the actual episodes.
i thought he was a little harsh on EP1 but after i'd then watched EP2 and his review he was bang on for EP2...it was like they wrote the poison/shop keeper narrative first, but then decided they needed the "force" forcefield scene later and didnt think about how they went together........

Utter dross, switched off after 20 minutes.
Unsuprising having read a bit about the director Leslye Headland.
