I thought she was raped by Black Noir/Homelander? I'm only on book 3 so I'm not up to speed, but the TV series seems to not be following the storyline too closely so far?

Wish they'd have subtitled the scenes with Kimiko and her brother though, didnt have a clue what was said TBH

You can turn on subs in the Amazon app on my TV. Suspect you can on other versions of the app too.

Weirdly, I got the subs for Kimiko last week automatically.
Ep4 started with subs on for everyone but opening the options menu it was off. I toggled anyway and it was fiine after that.

My amazon fire tv has been having issues with subtitles for none English speech on everything. The solution I found is similar to yours, turn on any country and then turn off. That brings them back. I have to do it every time though.
