Harry's Garage - YouTube

What a shame.
I guess an issue that he will always have is that the really big view numbers come from the youth demographic and they tend to want to see wheel spinning and certainly not hear interesting facts and details.
I would argue that a channel such as this attracts higher net worth eyeballs so must be worth finding a genuine sponsor where Harry announces them in a suitable manner and verbally explains the importance of their contribution etc.

Seems he has found a solution.

Even Seinfeld needs a sponsor.I guess an issue that he will always have is that the really big view numbers come from the youth demographic and they tend to want to see wheel spinning and certainly not hear interesting facts and details.

Surely he must have know this. He surely did somekind of demographic how things might work out. No? Oh Dear..
Now I'm very grateful to him for doing these, and I don't expect everything for free like some folk, but I still think it's a little cheeky for a millionaire to ask for his costs to be covered making videos like this.
But then again, thinking more about it on the other side of the coin, it's kind of selfish to expect him to do these for nothing.
Meh, I don't know what I'm talking about TBH...

Don't get me wrong, I really like Harry's videos, but what costs exactly? He uses a hand held camera and a few go pros surely?
There's none of the slow mo stuff, piloting drones etc and the beautiful cinematography that, for example, Neil Carey does for Chris Harris. He doesn't burn through tyres, and so far (forgive me if I'm wrong) they're all his own cars, or JLR specials...
Or am I completely missing something?

This is really interesting. Thinking of the Harris videos there are pretty high costs, additional camera people, editing, track locations etc. However, for Harry, his only real cost is his time and a bit of fuel. Most videos are at his own house. Granted I know there is a small cost in terms of initial equipment outlay but from his car enthusiasm aspect I am really surprised to see he needs to raise funds or would consider pulling the videos if he is not 'paid' enough. Maybe there are more costs than I am unaware of but still. His videos are brilliant but in terms of editing and shooting quality it is no different to what I might like to do in my spare time on my cars. I wouldn't expect to be paid for it. Perhaps it is simply the business man in him wanting another source of revenue!

Bit disappointed he wants paid. He's not exactly struggling and those vids are cheap to make.
Editing costs? I'm sure lots would do it for next to nothing.
Astonishing attitudeEditing costs? I'm sure lots would do it for next to nothing.
Why should he spend time making these videos for nothing? They take time to make and edit. I'm sure he has better things to do than make videos for us all to watch.
Why would people edit for "next to nothing"?
Your attitude is what is killing online media. You can't expect good content for nothing.....eventually, the people making these videos will just stop as there's no incentive.
As to your comments (and others) regarding how well off he is, that's totally, totally irrelevant.

What is Sienfield? His stuff (including the original sitcom of the same name) gets enormous viewing figures, yet is sponsored.
To be fair, I'd imagine a big part of the costs are salaries, which won't be an issue in Harry's case.
Can fully understand Harry wanting to cover his costs.
Let's be fair, it's not like if he wasn't making them he'd not be driving the cars. However he chooses to produce a high quality show for general viewing.
If each one costs approx. 1 - 1.5k (camera, editing, travel, consumable, expenses), then I think it's entirely reasonable that if you're getting lots of views those costs would be covered.
