Anyone watched it yet? I’m away with work with not a lot to do so might watch it this evening on my laptop.

Caught the first one, if I had to some it up in one word it would be "safe"

Sets and special effects look great, it has a quality feel

Appears to be a fairly cliched story line but thats ok

Not overburdened with Easter eggs although more than I spotted I'm sure

Has the feel of a live action "Clone Wars" in the way its edited

Certainly worth a watch

The openings of any new series with new characters are usually little more than story building so I wasn’t expecting all guns blazing action and knowing everything that was going on straight from the off, but I did think it got off to a good start and I look forward to seeing where it goes.

It’s good to look at, although the ship crashing was a bit sketchy, but other than that it’s a thumbs up from me with no characters that you hope to see the back of (annoying kid in Obi Wan, I’m looking at you).

I'm not sure a cameo appearance will really make that much of a difference.

Managed one and a half episodes.

Looks beautiful but by god it's forgettable with a silly contrived (even for star wars) story and bad acting by the younger cast.

Lots of folks seem to love it based on the reviews though, which is great.

Maybe I've just outgrown star wars at 50.

First was good, second was OK. Best thing so far is Carrie and the Wookie, the lead actor though can't carry a major role so it's not looking good.

I read a few reviews by critics who'd seen the first 4 episodes, largely positive, though one said episode 3 will kill Star Wars.
Viewers reviews not so good.

the young cast are a bit "soap" esque with their acting/delivery and they're really pushing "force-fu" but i'm sure it'll be worth it in the end

Given her prominence in the trailer I was expecting Carrie Ann Moss to last more than 10 minutes

yes the recent series have certainly moved it on to more like that - there seems to be no real consequence either - i always imagined that force use took energy by the user depending on how big the task was or how good they were at wielding - Yoda in ESB for example was weakened by him using it, again in prequels when fighting Palps....and i guess to some extent Luke and his projection in that-that-will-not-be-called-star-wars-movie,.........
i think thats the crux of what could separate good v evil - evil uses the power of hate and anger to wield , yet the good use it in a very different way - but they sort of never did anything like this in anything outside of the original 3, now everyone can sort of do everything without any real idea on how they do it or what it "costs" them.....it could really have stood darth vader/anakin out from the rest, his hate and anger was so much (from how he got into the suit) that he was almost unstoppable with his force use....

I'm expecting her and the others to feature heavily in flashbacks as things progress

Star wars is simply. The fans are simple and easy to please.
Why cant they just make retreads in the mould of the first film. Why try and be clever and different?

Well, I'm not riveted so far, but unlike some of the other series it has some actual momentum. Shall see where it heads.

I watched the first two episodes last night. Let me preface my thoughts first. I'm not a die-hard SW fan, I've seen the 9 main films plus the additional ones bar Solo (couldn't get through it). I've watched the new live-action shows, seen a bit of Clone Wars and some of the other animated stuff. So I'm pretty well informed but it's not my "universe", I don't hold any of the lore or canon sacred or anything. I'm a Star Trek guy.

Firstly (and I won't put spoilers because everyone has already spoiled it above), WTF is with having Carrie offed in the first ten minutes? Yeah ok she might be in flashbacks but seriously, this isn't "cool" or a surprise it's just a cheap bait and switch. Let's wait and see but it already pissed me off at the start. I'm not even convinced she's dead tbh so I expect her back but it's just annoying and an old trope at this stage.

Second, so she's a Jedi Master. Old and powerful. And this girl hands her her arse? By doing something that SHE COULD SEE COMING. She didn't need the force to tell what she was going to do, she was obviously going to knife the bartender and her character knew that and you're telling me she couldn't do two things at once, like stop the knife and block? ps off. That whole fight was awful, seemed more like a cheap Matrix rip-off in terms of the choreography.

Anyway annoying opening aside rofl the rest of the first two eps were just poor. Awful, awful writing and performances from everyone except Dafne Keen and Lee Jong-jae. I'd happily watch a show of those two, but everyone else is all over the place. The show also LOOKS really cheap. The use of the void has never been more obvious with certain scenes screaming old school green screen. Just everything about it looks poor tbh, even the costumes and make up look like 2nd rate cosplay for some reason.

Honestly, I've not had much bad to say about even the worst of the SW shows that have come out (I even liked Obi Wan and could forgive it a lot for some of the stuff in there) but literally both of these episodes ended and left me frustrated and had me groaning at several throughout at some of the stuff.

I hear ep3 is worse so not expecting it to get any better soon.
