I was very into the max power scene back in the day, never had the budget to go as far as a lot of the guys did, but I did help build the dash module for the Redline R33 Skyline as seen here at 3:03

I do miss those days smile

What were the other Max Power project cars?.. A hideous escort was one.
I was working at TSR performance when they did the engine for the Corrado project car
I was a massive Max Power fan (still got almost all of the magazines from launch in my loft I think).

Anyways the ‘hideous escort’ you refer to was my dream car and I recall dragging my girlfriend reluctantly 200 miles to the Earl’s Court motor show in around 1995 purely to see it. She wasn’t impressed lol

Thanks Guys - trip down memory lane!

No the hideous Escort I had in mind was indeed 'Project 2000' - due to the colours.

Project Thunder - neon green / yellow Carlton actually carried it off quite well I thought.

The Corrado slipped my mind - that was orange wasn't it?

Project 'RS Kicker' - was the MK4 Escort pictured above.

...There was a red & yellow golf too I seem to recall.

Ed Boolian bought the Jamie Shaw TVR for Car Trek, AFAIK it has since been sold on again.
The Cartrek episodes are funny and worth a watch but that TVR hadn't aged well!

Don't forget Project XS with its Rieger Genesis bodykit.

It’s no secret Car makers were massively influenced by 17 year old Corsa owners,
Some say our generation pioneered the modern cars.

I've been watching it on YouTube. It's now back up and running after a full restoration. It's owned by a lady known as RS Jamie who has a lot of fast Fords. I watched a series on it by MRM Speedshop smile

This is the video where she got it back.

I also watch this channel. Aa lot of you will remember his last acquisition from years ago. He has a couple of other old Max Power era cars too, another Saxo, and a Punto.

They said in the last podcast they were taking the BMW's on a roadtrip to Poland at least it makes a change from the ring.

Last time I'd seen that car it had fallen into a sorry state. Bookmarked for later.

Christ that car takes me back to my Saxperience forum days.
I believe it was owned / built by a guy called Wassy or something like that. He always went absolutely mental with his builds.

I do look back at these cars and think they're hideous, but at least they were a showcase of the talent it takes to build one.
Most show cars these days are resprayed, lowered on air ride, custom interior, some wheels and an engine bay tuck. Once you've seen 2 or 3, you've seen them all.

I’d have to take the horrible wrap off and put it back to the Saxo blue.

This was actually built by 'DBOY' from 'Xclusive2Cruizin' car club. Bodywork by Xquisite Automotive and the trimming was by D:Class. I worked above D:Class back in the day selling modified car parts. I remember the hours and hours they put into doing the exterior trimming on it, the silly late night's before car shows the next day.. They were good days.

22" wheels on K's BMW M3 was a huge thing back then, cars were built to be different to others.. Thousands put into a Saxo or Astra, not financing a Golf, remapping it and job done.

Madness that the exterior is trimmed! “I’m my day we couldn’t wrap cars with plastic so we used dead cow”.

Thanks for commenting this as that's not a channel I follow.

I had a couple of FTOs (and loved them) and still on occasion hunt the classifieds to see if there's a good one for sale. I stumbled across that car a few weeks ago and sent the link to friends, showed my wife etc as it was so ridiculous!

I clearly should have immediately bought it and made a youtube video!
I think it would take quite a lot of money to make that car road legal judging by the rust.

Max Power, the one where they would cajole 16 year old girls to get their tits out in a car park on a Friday night. Not at all creepy.
