I love the way Homelander sinisterly steers the group, some of the best scenes in the series are when he is subtly exerting his influence over the other Supes. The DC universe have touched on it with the Injustice storylines and I think it works great here too.
Everyone knows Superman\Homelander are the strongest and a being of such power with questionable morals would be frightening, they play on that fear brilliantly here.
I'd not really seen the actor in anything else before now either but he does a top rate slightly unhinged character, down to his facial ticks and mannerisms which are a lot more powerful then the usual full on shouty, chew the scenery villains you usually get in this type of thing.

Homelander <> Superman
Noir <> Batman
Queen Maeve <> Wonderwoman
The Deep <> Aquaman
A Train <> The Flash
Hmmm......
In the book, there's a line abut how they will fight for justice for the people and avenge the innocent. It's pretty heavy hitting. Noir <> Batman
Queen Maeve <> Wonderwoman
The Deep <> Aquaman
A Train <> The Flash
Hmmm......

I think telly Homelander is a mix of Cap and Supes.

Hmm I really wanted to like this, but it was a little too random and that left it susceptible for quite a few significant plot holes, which for someone with less than zero imagination made it difficult to watch and interest wavered towards the end.
Which plot holes?Guvernator said:

I started watching it and my brain was hammering at me to say we recognised him, eventually I realised (or it so annoyed me I IMDBed can't recall) he was the cop from Banshee...a very similar character.Halb said:
I've not read all the books yet, I think some here have. THat black noir bloke, I think he has elements of several sorts, Batman, one.
THere's a character called tek knight in the first book, it's a 99.99 % match for Batman, it's a crazy storyline.
Interestingly, the creator Garth Ennis actually wanted this in the DC universe originally, can you imagine that?!![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)
I believe Alan Moore originally wanted to use DC characters for Watchmen, but wasn’t allowed to do so. But after it’s success they were obviously happy to incorporate them into the DC universe. I don't see how you can come to that conclusion, considering how the 7 and other work.
Just my opinion, as he was first pulled into the team by the old CIA person who presented him evidence that made Urban assume his wife was raped by Homelander. The ending however made me 2nd guess that the actual rape ever happened.Chuffedmonkey said:

As I see it, the crime still happened, there's nothing to say it didn't so far, apart from hearsay from HL, and that's just one crime alongside all the rest we know of.Well I didn't read this thread yet, but having seen it named and a couple of adverts, I started watching this last night whilst keeping a watchful eye over my unwell daughter.
Two episodes in, I love it. So much fun! Would have watched more but it was nearly 3am and I really needed some sleep, but I'm looking forward to the the rest!
