Bad Boys Ride or Die

What a plesant surprise! No different to the earlier films and that's exactly what was needed. I always expect that films nowadays will overtly or subvertly preach some ideology at you, but this was just a pure action movie with pleanty of fun bits throughout.

I hope the film is a success, and maybe studios will learn that creating films audiences want to see is the way forward vs preaching propoganda or a the latest ideology....

Solid 9/10
Well I think Top Gun Maverick would have shown them that. If it had been made by Kathleen Kennedy then we would have likely been introduced to old Maverick as he was rummaging for food in bins.

Dune 2 - Bluray

I thought the first one was ok but it has been so long between the two movies I forgot both the plot and the characters and I certainly had no interest in watching the first one again.

My interest started to wane after about 70 mins and I was thankfully saved by a skipping Bluray disk, a couple of attempts to get it back working and then I simply gave up.

Probably will not bother watching the rest.

Boy Kills World

Poor action movie with an odd revenge plot.

Nope

Take inspiration from the title and don't bother, what a pile of utter, utter ste. Could have been told in just over an hour, it's filmed so dark it's almost unwatchable in parts, then the main character mumbles his way through it you can't understand what he's on about.

Never mind all that though, the director/writer obviously had a hard-on for those videos of the poor woman who was half eaten by a chimp on Oprah that went round TikTok a couple of years ago and for some unfathomable reason, decided to shoehorn that into the story. Baffling.

I don't recall seeing a film so utterly devoid of redeeming attributes in forever.

So why did you award it a one and not a zero?

Weird Science

Recorded some time back from somewhere, can’t remember. Hadn’t seen this since the very early 90s and had fond memories, honestly I should have left it in the past. Despite some good performances the story was rushed, disjointed and a bit crap, but at the time we didnt know any different.

Don’t bother unless you’re a real fan of 80s teen comedies.

It was one point more interesting than sitting and looking at a bank cinema screen.

Brokeback Mountain. Very good. Slow start. Could've done with subtitles at times.

Dark Waters from a few weeks back. Mark Ruffalo plays a corporate lawyer who takes on Dupont who are accused of dumping toxic chemicals into a river, poisoning the local people and livestock. A good film, more interesting than I expected it to be.

So isn’t that basically Erin Brockovich?

The Bikeriders

The excellent Tom Hardy as the leader of a motorcycle gang in 60s America. Based on contemporary pictures and interviews about the rise and decent into chaos of the club. Has a great look and feel to it. Plot is neither here nor there but hugely enjoyable stuff nonetheless.

Might even go and see it again

It's USA corporate chemical companies in general. They are above the law.

It's an excellent film.

It's worth it just for Kelly Le Brock alone.

Back to Godzilla Minus One.

We sat down this evening to watch it, but after four hours of tedium, we discovered there were still three more hours to go.

fk me, it was DULL.

The acting was st, the story was boring and the evening was wasted.

0 whatevers out of 10... sigh...

Sometimes I think of Dying - Sky Premier

Flicked over to this and missed about the first 15 mins.

Stars Daisy Ridley, and it looked like the small indie type film that she may get her kit off so I continued watching in hope (didn't happen), knowing nothing about what the film was about.

Set in a small coastal town, she plays a socially awkward office worker who is shy and has dark thoughts and probably depressed.
She tries connecting with a new employee who is the opposite of her.
They kind of start to date but due to the way she is, it's not smooth sailing.

It's a dark film that deals with depression and loneliness and not much else, however it kept me intrigued just to see how it turned out for her.

It's going to be very marmite, most will probably say it's boring and nothing really happens but in terms of the themes it wanted to explore, I thought it was pretty decent.
Daisy was very good in this compared to her Star Wars stuff.

The Great Escaper

Missed it in the cinema but finally watched my DVD from Father's Day. It's terribly dusty in here this evening.....

Great performances from Michael Caine, Glenda Jackson and John Standing. Outstanding film.

The Duke..funny, true story about an unlikely art thief. On BBC the other night. Saw latest Planet of the Apes last night at cinema, just more of the same really but an interesting story/premise and quite thought provoking in places. Enjoyed it.
