Films I watched this week (NO SPOILERS) (Vol 3)

If you watch Krull, make sure its not a censored version. One of the best bits is where the bug thing in the bad guys comes out of their heads and buries itself in the ground when the main body is shot (not a spoiler, it happens a lot).
Its also got the biggest horses ever committed to film. That fly. With flames coming from their hooves. Also, same title music as one of the Star Trek movies.
Same composer as Wrath of Khan so I assume that's the similarity. Thanks for the tip!Its also got the biggest horses ever committed to film. That fly. With flames coming from their hooves. Also, same title music as one of the Star Trek movies.

This epic. Very much underrated. Cannot tell you how many times I've watched it. The Beast is such a cool villain.
There were rumours of a remake, but I hope it's just that... rumours...
This was nine months ago, I haven't heard anything more about a KRULL remake. There were rumours of a remake, but I hope it's just that... rumours...

Some of you are going to hate me for mentioning this but, last night I watched The Game again - first time I've RE-watched it since it's original issue.
Even though I knew the story, I thought it was really good. Obvs I wish I could go back and watch it afresh again but it's still a good film.

Yeah very similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aICzV6QS9wA (30 seconds in). Not the same music though but a lot of his stuff is similar in the same way as John Williams or Hans Zimmer or Jerry Goldsmith (who also did a lot of Trek). They have a distinct sound that makes their pieces instantly recognisable. Batman Begins
Such a good film - a film with an actual story line and character arc. I think it's been mentioned by others, but most characters in modern films are just super-strong, invincible (even when they are a 6 stone female). The film spends probably the best part of an hour showing how batman became to be.
Solid 9/10

I dusted off my DVD copy of KRULL (1983) for a watch.
Great little fantasy film and think it stands the test of time.
"A prince and a fellowship of companions set out to rescue his bride from a fortress of alien invaders who have arrived on their home planet, Krull".
Early appearences from Ken Marshall (later starred in Star Trek DS9), Lysette Anthony, Liam Neeson, Robbie Coltrane & Todd Carty.

Never seen this but I do recognise the blade thingy (Glaive) from somewhere else I'm sure? Maybe it's just been featured as it's a pretty iconic design. Great little fantasy film and think it stands the test of time.

Yeah you're not wrong, we don't ever need to revisit Batman's origin story as far as I'm concerned as they nailed it in this. Such a good film - a film with an actual story line and character arc. I do love the BTS story about how Bale came to BB an absolute beast and Nolan told him he was too fat and needed to lose weight
![rofl](/inc/images/rofl.gif)
Bale absolutely inhabits his characters, he's a modern-day Gary Oldman (who's also outstanding in the trilogy).
Batman Begins is 19 years old this week btw!

If you notice the scene where he's training with the League there's a shot of him topless on top of some poles balancing and fighting and you can see how much extra weight he's carrying there as it was one of the early scenes shot.

That whole trilogy is fantastic… particularly the 2nd film… Bale and Ledger were the best Batman and Joker. End of. I do love the BTS story about how Bale came to BB an absolute beast and Nolan told him he was too fat and needed to lose weight

What was shocking to me was one of his previous films (year before?) was The Machinist. To lose that much weight, then to put a s![rofl](/inc/images/rofl.gif)

We still kill the old way from a recording the other week. When an OAP tries to stop a gang of youths from raping a young woman in a dark alley, they turn on him and kick him to death. His brother (Ian Ogilvy) is a reformed gangster who has retired to Spain, so he comes back to London to help "investigate" along with a few old mates. Enjoyed it.
The sequel, we still steal the old way, like many of this low budget Brit gangsta films, has more money in it, and although has some similarities, of you liked the first one this is also an easy way to spend time. All of that aside, it was better than Freight, which I've just finished watching. Billy Murray plays a gangster whose daughter is kidnapped by some foreign gangsters / people smugglers for some reason, and he has to go and get her back. I didn't really follow much of the plot, a lot of it was shot in darkness, lots of random central casting foreign thugs, one of whom for some reason is driving around in an old Jaguar XJ. Not that good, really, especially in comparison.

t load back on to play Batman was bonkers.
In 2017 he also put on a chunk of weight to play Dick Cheney in Vice.![](/inc/images/censored.gif)
Just simply need personal trainer, 3 hours a day, personal chef, HGH, Tren and lots of cash.

Still an entertaining bit of viewing, but don't expect any Oscar quality fair, it's proper east end cheap.

This is a great (but horrific) story on the amount of weight he lost for that:![](/inc/images/censored.gif)

Frau GenX was out so finally got around to Godzilla Minus One (in Japanese with subtitles) last night.
Small budget or not, it was brilliant - as other reviewers have said one genuinely cares for the characters, and it really was visually stunning.
9/10
Followed up with Ghostbusters - Frozen Empire
Completely by-the-numbers with as many references to earlier movies crammed in as possible, the only saving graces being the performances by the daughter and the guy who sold them the Orb , If ever a franchise should have been left to die… meh.

Did anyone go to Screen Unseen (which was The Exorcism) or The Exorcism advance screening at Cineworld?
It was a bad one. That bad it was funny, but not enough to save it.
Russell Crowe is an actor playing a priest in a horror movie which absolutely isn't The Exorcist. Bad things happen. His daughter is meant to be 16, the actor (Ryan Simpkins) is 26.
I haven't seen The Pope's Exorcist from last year, apparently that's getting a sequel. I do sort of want a Russell Crowe exorcism film cinematic universe now though

Godzilla X Kong (2024)
Plot summary: monkeys grunt at each other, all the big monsters have a fight.
It was, frankly, boring. In the scenes with giant creatures in the wilderness there was little sense of scale, and the scenes with humans were of little point. Monster fights in the human environments were (a) predictable and (b) must have had untold, unmentioned casualties!
4/10
Shows just how good Minus One is.
