I'd have let him just use his real accent. No one would care it wasn't English and it wouldn't sound so bad when he swears.
Yep. Wouldn’t be surprised if this happens for S2.
I’m sure Karl Urban could do a good ‘generic’ English accent. Just needs to tone down the ‘cockney geezer’.
It really jars when he calls someone a 'twot' in his comedy English-ish accent, but using the very daft US pronunciation.

There's no way the character would do that, but if the English pronunciation would mean the American audience wouldn't understand, then they should have just used a different word.

I finished this last night, fantastic show, with "Patriot" and this, Amazon are really upping their game.

And yes, I need some mind bleach, I still feel a bit sick from that scene.

I noticed that, but then he already pronounced it 'tt' in an earlier scene. SO it makes me think the later scene was shot earlier.

Like tt, when did the Americans adopt c@@T as a swear word. It’s all over us tv now. First I remembering it was in bridesmaids but it must have been out before?

It used to just be stereotyped British gangster characters saying it but now loads of normal American characters are. Next they’ll be calling each other wkers and tossers.

Patriot is a hidden gem, people mistake it for a typical spy series, but its so much more than that - one of the finest shows around IMO. Hilarious and tragic.

Absolutely, I think it suffers a bit with the name, when I first saw it I assumed it was some kind of crap with Kiefer Sutherland saving Washington, again hehe If it wasn't for the recommendation on here I wouldn't have bothered with it.

Patriot was great.

As amazon owns IMDb, I think you ought to be able to search by IMDb ratings etc and things like that. Their algorithm often doesn’t show up stuff you might really like, especially if you watch a variety of genres.

If you just see a row of titles you don’t get a sense of what’s good or not.

I’ve often just gone on IMDb and looked at top series or movies by ratings and found and really enjoyed things I wouldn’t normally watch.

If you have the means wink Pennyworth is definitely worth watching.

Funny, violent and mainly UK actors with a decent budget.

Just finished watching this, quite enjoyed it, some great performances but thought the ending wasn't great. Lots unresolved, did A-Train wake up, did Kimiki make it home safely, what happened to the baby etc.

Suppose it sets up Series 2 though.

Was very good though seemed to drag it out a bit in the middle. The ending was very good and an unexpected and intelligent outcome.
Nothing like a usual superhero ending with swirling energy vortex and struggles to close the portal etc etc zzz.
That sort of rubbish is so engrained in the public that its now late evening viewing for infantilized adults.
When I check the TV and 10pm there is a marvel film coming on I dispair...

Tried Patriot from the comments on here - after 1.5 episodes we stopped. Main characters are morons without redeming features to hook us.

We’ve watched the first and I’m not sure if I’ll bother with the 2nd yet frown

They use it in The Sopranos.

OK so I've read the first omnibus book. I know I watchd the show first and that led me to the book, but I prefer the show. I think the most of the subtle changes they've made make so much sense. Thickens the story out and makes it more real.
The big twist at the end, on that thing I'm open minded, we;ll see.

I watched the last episode last night, and am looking forwards to the next series.

There were a couple of things that were unresolved though, probably on purpose:

The Deep - What was he preparing for?
Noir / The Dark Fella that definitely isn't a bit of a rip-off Batman - What's the story with him? We don't really know anything about him.

I've not read all the books yet, I think some here have. THat black noir bloke, I think he has elements of several sorts, Batman, one.
THere's a character called tek knight in the first book, it's a 99.99 % match for Batman, it's a crazy storyline.

Interestingly, the creator Garth Ennis actually wanted this in the DC universe originally, can you imagine that?! laugh

Homelander <> Superman
Noir <> Batman
Queen Maeve <> Wonderwoman
The Deep <> Aquaman
A Train <> The Flash

Hmmm......

Hmm I really wanted to like this, but it was a little too random and that left it susceptible for quite a few significant plot holes, which for someone with less than zero imagination made it difficult to watch and interest wavered towards the end.
