No, they just all enjoy their car collections. Treating it badly would be smashing it up or destroying it not just doing some donuts in a grassy field.
Tax the rich videos were great, wish they would do more.

Lovely cars in the concours and done interesting history about them too.
yes

Crikey, reminds me so much of the very, very early years of the Festival of Speed...

Which was an event I loved for a long time, and now despite living a five minute bike ride from, just can't be arsed to go to anymore.
The VIP experience I’m sure is lovely, but having been to the FOS a few times now as a pleb, I’m done. It’s ridiculously busy and expensive.
FoS 'back in the day' was incredible. The very early days were like this event now - a few hay bales, zero barriers or enclosures, etc. Even as it grew, it was somehow better - trying to have a fanboi 'conversation' with Horatio Pagani via his stunningly gorgeous wife was a highlight, as well as chatting with John Surtees about what driving a fan car at Le Mans was like.

Then it got way too commercial. The size wasn't appreciably bigger, but the attendees changed and the focus became much more 'brand oriented'. Members Meet is the one for me now, although I was privileged to be at Speedweek (the one off covid emergency event to prevent them being fined millions by the sponsors) and that was pretty epic!
It suffered the same disease as all these sorts of events in that the 90s was the end of that long era of being inexpensive to set up so you didn't need to have too much going on to break even or market to that many people. Nor was there so much competition.

Le Mans, the Ring, Silverstone and FOS all changed over an extremely short period into much more expensive events populated by a far wider range of people. Same with all the festivals. The more people are dragged in the more some of them need to be kept away from places, kept entertained etc.

For those of us who got to see and experience all these events before the big investments and hauling in of many more people I think we were very lucky. They were also all easy for kids to still blag their way in to, which was how many of us first experienced them.

Lots of new events over the years and the basic rule is that they're great until they get marketed further afield.

It is busy but I don't get the expensive bit. I'm going down on Thursday, cost me £30. I'll have a look at the wonderful cars in the Style et Lux, wander around the various paddocks, spend some time in the Bonhams auction marquee and watch some stuff going up the hill. Cup of coffee, a burger and a beer perhaps another £20 so I don't consider that expensive. Of course you can go full champagne Charlie and blow hundreds sitting in Kinrara all day quaffing Moet but that's not for me...

How much does it cost for two or three hours watching Springsteen or Taylor Swift?

I'd like to know what people think would be a reasonable price to attend the FOS or Revival.

I haven’t been for a while but isn’t Thursday the day without any runs up the hill etc?

To go for Saturday and Sunday and have a seat in a grandstand with a good view I’d say is expensive, but maybe im just a tight arse lol

I’ve tried it without a place to see properly and it’s just a bit crap to be honest. 20 deep trying to catch a glimpse of a car going up the hill isn’t my idea of a fun day out.

Each to their own.

Thursday is more or less a full day now but with less of the 'star' drivers. I'm not too bothered about watching everything going up the hill. Of course, I'l watch some of the cars but mostly I like wandering around looking at stuff. I agree, if you wanted to go on Sunday and watch all the hill runs you'd need a grandstand and that is expensive.

Didn't he sell it all in bits after he shredded it? I doubt he lost money.

Er, the bike shouldn't have been overtaking a car that was turning right.

Watch another couple of the rider's videos. He's an organ donor in waiting.
