Its quite possible I missed something but the continuity seems a bit crap or unexplained:

Up to episode 5 we had:

Rhaenyra shagging Criston Cole but then rejecting him, and marrying the gay Laenor Velaryon.

Alicent recruits Cole

In episode 6

Rhaenyra is having kids with Harwin Strong - where did he come from? No prior explanation of their attraction/affair.

Larys Strong is now doing evil stuff for Alicent - where did he come from? Why does he hate/kill his brother Harwin?

I get it now, but the 10 year leap was a bit hamfisted IMO

Overall finding it hard-going and a bit boring, its high quality but 95% politics / 5% fighting, whereas 70/30 of GoT was much better

So much of this was in the dark - I was watching a blank screen for ages. It's complete bks and lacks any of what made the first few series of GoT good.

I learned long ago to watch GoT in as dark a room as possible- this latest episode was actually a bit brighter than the past couple of series of GoT.

I actually thought this episode moved things along nicely and had some drama.

Its been a bit of a slow burner, but things are really ramping up.

Excellent show IMO.

Yes, it's getting interesting, as it should with only 3 episodes left.

Tend to agree that it's no GoT.
Had to watch the end of the last one at least twice to understand what's happening. Continuity between the previous one and last weeks was confusing too.

I enjoyed that. The tension was good, well paced and it’s getting interesting now.

Yeah the whole timeline is moving along rather quickly, but the latest episode was very entertaining!

Why isn't it obvious that Rhaenyra's kids aren't young Velaryon's, because they're not very Er, dark?
I wouldn't have said that - for example I didn't know that Markle was mixed race and I only recently ground out a friend's father was African (I'm darker than both and my ancestry is only part Asian)

I did like this week's denouement - obviously dreadful for gay prince's parents but shows Rhaeneera [sp]? is not a heartless cow

It's supposed to be obvious because they don't have blond hair. All of the other Targaryens have blond hair, even the dark skinned ones.

Are they saving electric, so much was filmed in the dark I couldn't make out who was talking to who.

The scene appears to have been filmed in the middle of a bright sunny day - https://www.vulture.com/article/why-house-of-the-d...

I read somewhere else the reason was that they shot the funeral first (in Cornwall) then the weather decided not to play ball so the artificially made it night so that the stark contrast in weather wouldn't look out of place....

You think the reveal at the end was Rhaynaera’s doing then? I took it that the lover decided not to kill him and took him to safety instead and that this will be news to Rhaynaera…?

I'm with you - Rhaynaera and Daemon think the gay Prince is dead. Daemon specifically said the only way they can marry is if the Prince is dead.

Rhaynaera had also clearly lost patience with the Prince - should have been there being his new motto.

Disagree,

Daemon already mentioned earlier to Laenor that across the narrow sea, there were places where it didn't matter about your tastes, or your name, only how much [i]Gold[/] you had, there you could live a life of freedom.

Ditto the insistence that there be a witness to the fight and the body being so badly burned its unrecognisable.

That's obviously foreshadowing the mock execution and escape with his lover.

Yes, once you get the requirement for a body that can pass for the Prince, that's too much for the lover to set up. That would have to be done by someone with more power, so Daemon.

As for the latest episode, still slow, but much better with a lot more happening.

Oh and several more years have passed, again.

I thought the latest episode was superb and possibly the best of the season so far IMO.

Set the end of this season and the next up nicely. I imagine we've possibly seen the last of the time jumps now and it will follow a more conventional a la Game of Thrones time line.

I think they've almost forgotten about the best character, Daemon. He's also changed from a bit of a dick, to being much nicer, though he redeemed himself at the end.

Paddy Considine in that last episode was outstanding. Truly excellent.
