Watched that Atlas thing.
Well, when I say watched, I mean I watched the action sequences and skipped through most of J Lo's attempts to act.
I can't quite remember such a bad case of miscasting. The reviews described it as b-movie schlock, which is sometimes just what you need on a Friday night when you want to disengage your brain.
But this was nothing other than bad.
I liked it for what it was and I thought her acting was good. Its a film which can just be enjoyed for what it is, set in the future with AI, thought provoking yes, just like a number of films that are set in the future. Binged 3 episodes last night.
CIA agent on the run for 20 years brought back to find a mole.
Agent is a middle aged lady...
Quite engaging
Worth a look
Started watching it a while back but forgot. You’ve prompted me to look again and am enjoying it. She reminds in a way of George Smiley Binged 3 episodes last night.

Only one bit grated so far
Another 3 eps tonight !
Started on Dear Child last night.
German psychological thriller which opens with a mother and 2 children waiting for the father to come home. Home is a locked room that they're never allowed out of.
I recognise one of the characters out of Dark but I don't think this is going to be sci-fi although it would be easy to think it might be at the end of episode 1.
It's started well.

The only thing that irked me, was that there were loads of ARCs lying around, could’ve easily taken the fusion reactor from one of them.
3 episodes in on Dear Child and still impressed with few reservations.
Based on a story written in 2020 which itself was probably based on snippets from real events with some fictional licence added for entertainment.
So the "mother" escaped with the little girl but got run over and is unconscious.
The story that unfolds is gripping and quite frightening.
It's interesting how this has some of the actors from Dark and in some ways a similar feel - even the story itself has similarities with regards to people who go missing but the similarity ends there.
Halfway in - I'd say this drama lives up to this thread title - it's a gem so far.

I enjoyed it for what it was, good SFX too.
Popel criticising the acting, I thought she was fine in the role, I've seen far worse.

Still not bad but I remember it being better. Shame they didn't have the courage to commit properly to their lead character and were inconsistent with it. And obvious that whoever wrote it had never watched any police or crime shows!
Well you only watched the first four seasons last time. I am doing a re-watch myself at the moment and I still think the first season is extremely good. They commit to the character, and so does the actor, and you don't get the watered down feeling of some later seasons.

Can't believe they dropped this with no fanfare or anything, didn't even show in the new section for me I had to search for it! Glad it's on there though, amazing film.

I fell asleep for 30 minutes in the middle of Atlas, which was definitely a better use of my time.
Finally got around to watching One Piece. I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. It was better than the anime as the fights didn’t drag on so long and it condensed the story nicely. Much better than the The Last Avatar (I didn’t bother watching Cowboy Beebop as the reviews were so bad and the clips I saw put me off). I am looking forward to series 2.
Monty Python Almost the Truth: The Lawyer's Cut (2009)
A series of 6 documentaries each of just less than an hour (shortest 50 mins, longest 57 mins).
Talking head interviews with the Pythons (archive footage of interviews in Chapman's case), plus friends, associates, collaborators, and the like, mixed in with archive footage etc.
It doesn't necessarily add a lot if you are already a fan, but I'm finding it enjoyable. I particularly like the lack of a narrator.
edit: Ep4 is almost entirely about Holy Grail and is actually really interesting and telling me new stuff. Although obviously your mileage may vary.
edit2: Ep5 is Life of Brian and I did not realise how financially committed George Harrison was in backing it. Quite frankly the most money any person has paid for a cinema ticket.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
edit3: Barely had any adverts on the "Basic with ads" plan. Way way less than Amazon's "with ads".

The brother was never explained just left out at the end - weird.

This was my thoughts too although I prefer these suspense dramas with some questions unanswered however the younger brother could have been left out altogether. The brother was never explained just left out at the end - weird.
I felt the first 4 episodes were excellent if somewhat far fetched.
