I loathe voice dubbing with a vengeance but didn’t find it too intrusive on this occasion and watched the whole film with not much of an issue.

Heads up for Godzilla Minus One https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81767635?s=a&...
Can't believe they dropped this with no fanfare or anything, didn't even show in the new section for me I had to search for it!

Glad it's on there though, amazing film.
+1 it's a really great film, well worth a watch.

I fell asleep for 30 minutes in the middle of Atlas, which was definitely a better use of my time.
Perfect Sunday Afternoon Film.

Really enjoyed that - had no idea what to expect. Certainly didn't disappoint.
I am a sucker for Japanese films. Didn’t disappoint.
I enjoyed it, beacame hilarious the more you watched it, gotta love Japanese over acting
We watched G-1 on Saturday night. Didn't do much for me, though it was better than the Hollywood films of late.

I really don’t like watching dubbed films. I am very used to reading subtitles. Often we have them on during English language programmes and films too.

For me it changes the feeling completely, particularly Japanese. It just sounds wrong.

Yeah I'm very much the same, if I can't watch something in the original language I'll avoid it all together. It's never the same.

And that's fine, so long as it's kept as a personal preference.

What I hate in the whole 'dub vs sub' "debate" [sic] is when people try to impose their preference on others, to the extent of saying that watching a dubbed version is wrong / shouldn't be allowed / shouldn't be provided / whatever. I'm very much in favour of choice and allowing people to make that choice.

Note: Not saying either of you are doing this, but I'm fed up to my back teeth with people who do.

My personal choice is whatever I feel like at the time. Sometimes I might want to get into a film by watching the dubbed version and then later on watch it again with the subbed version. Or maybe the other way round. Depends on what I feel like. smile

I like subtitles occasionally - I have watched programmes on x2 speed and read the subs if I'm in a hurry. I also used to put them on and play music instead of listing to the show.

What can sometimes be amusing to do is to watch a dubbed version with the English subtitles turned on, as very often two completely different people / teams did the translations for each, and sometimes they can differ quite substantially. biggrin

Yep, like people who watch something in English with the subtitles on when English is their first language. Seems to be something more common with a younger generation and it would annoy the hell out of me but you do you, doesn't effect my viewing pleasure smile

I find it an odd thing to get annoyed about considering outside of the English-speaking world I think most films in English are dubbed rather than subbed for big cinema releases and a lot of effort goes into the casting of the voice actors.

Couldn’t be bothered to finish Godzilla. It just didn’t grab my attention.

Likewise. Extremely turgid
The first few episodes I never knew what to make of it. Seemed all over the place, but I felt it came together in the last two. I Really enjoyed it in the end it gets rather dark, I can see why people might have switched off though.

Aquarius - fox mulder vs charlie manson. Old series so not sure if added recently or just happened to pop up in my list.

Its pretty naff, but entertaining at the same time and I’m still watching it. Maybe in hope that Gillian Anderson will appear.

Under Paris (aka Jaws in Paris hehe ) first things first.... yes it is st. It doesn't have the same budget or production values as 'The Meg', but it is fun in a televisual wallpaper kinda way with (to me) quite a surprise ending.

Sweet Tooth season 3 is now on Netflix. Really enjoyed the first two seasons, this I believe is the last season.

I want to watch it purely because of Netflix's ad on Twitter which said 'Under Paris - this is going to be In Seine' rofl

Apologies for the cross-post but, just to add to the various discussions about Godzilla Minus One, I thought this article by Den of Geek was very good.

Scavengers Reign

Animated sci-fi thing, lots of weirdness. Did well with critics, very strong style to it, apparently similar to Moebius' work but also reminded me of some Japanese stuff.
You had me at Moebius. I will have to watch this
It's got a very Japanese vibe to it. I find it strangely unsettling, but is compulsive viewing, although I can only watch 2 episodes at a time.

I finished Iron Reign last night (with sub-titles) It was alright. Spanish narco-crime 8 parter with some fit birds in it.

Possibly the dullest review ever!

Triangle of sadness
If you like Arty films this is for you, wonderfully odd yet fascinating film that lures you in to bathe in its craft.

The Invitation
Totally different, but the lead female is the most beautiful woman in the world and for me it was up there with Interview with a Vampire for its brilliant take on Dracula...

Enjoy.
