Just doesn't ring true to his character for me, I guess.

At this level of production you'd think the director would have the flags on the square rigged ship flying the right way (23 mins in). Corrected in the later scenes of the ships.

I agree. His besotted-ness (?!) with her seems to have come out of nowhere. Last episode she had to force him, now he wants to elope with her then kills this guy at the wedding?! Really odd.

The whole pacing of the show seems really strange tbh. The wedding dinner thing didn’t seem to flow from the first half of the episode. After the second ad break all of a sudden this scene. Surprised me a bit.

Wish they’d just start riding the damn dragons more!

I think for me it was also how the scene was set up:

1. Joyous dancing, everyone happy. Focus on Rhaneera.
2. Daemon enters awkwardly, sexual tension between Rhaneera and Daemon.
3. King notices, is concerned then angry, but his view is obscured by commotion in crowd.
4. Crowd clears, Ser Christon is beating the piss out of the boyfriend.

For me, 4 doesn't follow from 1, 2 and 3.

It is the classic setup in GoT, happy then slaughter!! It was to be expected you are 5 in! You are invested in characters you love and hate, now is the time for things to get stirred up and for them to reveal their nature, Smith is the intriguing one still.

Didn't like the fact they've swapped out two of the main characters.

That was always the intention from the start. Ten years is quite evident on somebody mid teens, not so much when you approach 30. I think the new girls did a fantastic job and the casting has been spot on. Definitely a slower episode last night, found my mind wandering at times. Loving the new slightly malicious Alicent, getting some Cersei vibes.

Isn’t Milly like 22 anyway? Not a fan of the new one. Olivia Cooke is ok though.

Dull episode.

That's exactly what it was. The subtletly of the Green outfits worn by some kids, black/red worn by the others, blond haired Targaryen blood not being in line for the throne but brown curly haired bd children being heir. The deaths of the Strongs etc. All fantastic foreshadowing for what there is to come.

I enjoyed it.

Why are one set of Targaryen kids blonde and one not? Is it only passed down the male side, or is it only incest?

Yeah but in both cases you have one white haired and one dark haired parent.
Maybe Rhaenyra just dyes her hair white hehe

the time jump was bizarre with characters having changed-queen gone psycho kniight turned unknightly princess poked another knight king wanting to remain oblivious-very confusing but interesting love the new littlefinger ie strong's brother

I would say 'because story' hehe

But it's a quick way to show who the bds are and who the pure bloods are!

yes probably. Thinking about it, it can't be passed down the male side, because Jon Snow. But the Velaryons have blonde hair.

Why isn't it obvious that Rhaenyra's kids aren't young Velaryon's, because they're not very Er, dark?

Bloody odd, actually watched the end of episode 5 again to make sure I didn’t miss something

So the knight has swapped sides without explanation (other than saving him from suicide at end of 5)?

And who is Runny shagging now who is father of her kids?

It wasn't without explanation. He effectively had his life saved by Alicent (she could have easily had him hung for his bedding of the Princess) it was made quite obvious that she had intentions for him, knowing he now owes her. She see's him as a useful ally going forward against Rhaenyra.

Rhaenyre is (or was) banging the hand of the kings son - whom is her personal guard I assume. Hence his resignation and then subsequent murder of his son arranged by Alicent and that snivelling Little Finger-esque brother of his.
