Hey Folks,

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but got the following through email, open to anyone with a TVR.

To celebrate 75 years of TVR, Blackpool Thunder Car Club has partnered with Blackpool Carnival to offer two full days of fun and festivities in Blackpool, the birthplace of TVR, over the weekend of Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd July. It’s absolutely free and all TVRs are welcome.

To reserve your place simple register your TVR for free here.

SATURDAY 2ND JULY: PROMENADE DISPLAY – SHOW AND SHINE
On Saturday Blackpool Thunder Car Club has dedicated parking on Blackpool Promenade for a static TVR display between 9.30am and 4.00pm. And there will be a number of trophies up for grabs, including concours, furthest distance travelled and best at show.

At the same time you can enjoy a superb day of free entertainment at both Waterloo Headland and St Chad’s Headland, between the South & Central Piers, with live acts performing on stage throughout the day including: entertainers, singers, bands, drummers, dance groups and more.

SUNDAY 3RD JULY: CARNIVAL PROCESSION – TVRS ARE THE STARS OF THE SHOW!
On Sunday Blackpool Thunder Car Club has been invited to lead off the famous Blackpool Carnival Procession.

We will meet up late morning and take our place at the head of the procession which will move off at 12 noon. Reaching the end of the Promenade we will peel off and convoy to Bristol Avenue for a photo opportunity before driving to Hoo Hill, then on to Beverley Grove, the site of Trevor Wilkinson’s first workshop, before returning to the Promenade to re-join the procession for its finale.

Back to Blackpool is absolutely free and all TVRs are welcome. Register your TVR now!

Not exactly my definition of 'two full days of fun?' But anyway several others may be at Le Mans Classic.

I’m booked in, never had my TVR in Blackpool. Really looking forward to the weekend.
I was speaking with a few others at Burleigh and they were saying there was a lot of people signed up for it.
Very fitting for the 75th Anniversary. Well done to whoever pulled this one off!

Will this be a chance to see the “new” TVR ? Is the “factory” having a presence there ? Will it be used as an opportunity to convert owners into the new ICE (V8) and the EV ? They’ll be here soon I believe.

As a breakaway group from the TVR Club, I would be gobsmacked if it was to appear smile .... However , with the new willingness for exposure even I made be proved wrong hehe

Details of this weekends events below:

Saturday Meeting Point & Timings

The entry point for our Back to Blackpool static TVR display on Saturday 2nd July is immediately north of the South Pier.

From 8.30am to 9.30am there will be Event Stewards waiting at the entry point, to guide you safely across the tram tracks and pedestrian area to your parking place.

There is a layby for 5 or 6 cars immediately before the entry point, so please pull in there and wait to be escorted by the Stewards, so as not to block the Promenade:

Junction of: A584 Promenade and Withnell Road.

Post Code: FY4 1BB

Lat/Long: 53.79476030646472, -3.056516212173565

What3Words: count.chemistry.dine

We will only be allowed to move our cars from our display area after 4pm. Again, Stewards will be required to guide you across the pedestrian area and across the tram tracks back to the Promenade.

Sunday Meeting Point & Timings

The meeting point for us to lead off the Blackpool Carnival Procession on Sunday 3rd July is opposite the Solaris Centre and Mirror Ball on New South Promenade.

To avoid congestion and to allow us to form up at the head of the carnival procession, we need to be at our meeting point for 11.00am, so we can lead off the Carnival Procession at 12 noon:

Junction of: A584 New South Promenade and Harrowside West.

Post Code: FY4 1RW

Lat/Long: 53.783467, -3.057960

What3Words: rare.comb.snack

After having led off the procession, when we reach the end of the Promenade we will peel off and convoy to Bristol Avenue for a photo opportunity before driving to Hoo Hill, then on to Beverley Grove, the site of Trevor Wilkinson’s first workshop, before returning to the Promenade to re-join the procession for its finale.

Please Note

As with most seaside locations, in good weather Blackpool Promenade can be deceptively hot, with the cool sea breeze disguising the effects of the summer sun. It is therefore important to bring with you some high factor sun cream, a sun hat, and plenty of water to keep you hydrated throughout the event.

In case of inclement weather, please make sure to bring with you warm clothing, plus your favourite combination of waterproofs, and a hat and umbrella.

If you require assistance during the event at any time, please seek the help of Howard Bryan, Steve Charlesworth or an event steward.

We look forward to seeing you at Back to Blackpool this weekend!

According to my little lad there were 51 TVRs today. The weather ended up being great and there was lots of interest from passers by.
All in all a good day, a fey hours in the arcades and shops and got look some nice cars. I did notice that TVRs get a good response from people. Lots of interest, thumbs up and waving.
If anyone involved is reading this, thanks for organising it.

How many do you want / expect?! confused

Joe public were very respectful of the cars. There’s a few dozen families now with pictures of their kids sitting in my car… hopefully help to inspire a few to be the next generation of pistonheads biggrin

Agreed, it was a good day and thanks to the Blackpool Thunder team for organising it.

Special mention to the folks from TVRCC Germany who’d made a trip over for the occasion and had some lovely cars.

Good to take my car back home and get a picture of it with the tower in the background smile
