A heads up for this fantastic event on 10th May 2022. So far 29 booked so we need another 26 by 18th March for this to go ahead so please get booking before it's too late. Booking via TVR Car Club Website. £85 deposit to be paid by 18th March, with balance of £85 to be paid by 12th April if we get enough people so get booking NOW.

It is a brilliant track, full of elevation, scenery and interest.
It will keep you on your toes.
It will be fine for a novice as long as you prepare your car accordingly and book into the novice group.
I’m sure you will enjoy it and this may be the start of many more enjoyable outings in your car where you can use it to its full extent.
If you are up for it, once you get in the groove of a track day you will be amazed at how far you can push your car and how you can throw it around. You can’t get anywhere near doing that on the public roads and obviously you shouldn’t!

In my opinion no, not in a TVR. Its a Bike circuit, very narrow & unforgiving in places. I have done it many times in other cars & its fantastic but I would be nervous about taking the Griff.Somewhere like Bedford is best in my opinion for a complete novice, very difficult to come a cropper there.
Cadwell Park is a great circuit. I agree it is on the narrow side but the TVR car club have held their Track Days there for many, many years. I agree it isn’t for the novice as such but you can go as fast as you want to go hence the novice group.

I would suggest speaking to the TVR car club, confirming that there will be a novice group that you would like to be part of it and take it from there. You never know, there may be a hdden racing driver deep inside!
I also totally agree that Bedford Autodrome is a great track for the novice driver. Huge open areas with plenty of run-off. I did a track day there on Saturday and had a fantastic time. So much so that I wore about 60% off a new set of Toyo triple 8’s! That is the beauty of a track day. You can literally go well outside the road comfort zone in your driving, drive the car fast within your capabilities, enjoy yourself and all in pretty much a safe environment.

That video makes the point perfectly - they were having fun going at the (sunday afternoon with granny) speed that they preferred.
You too can drive at that speed, or you can go about 30 mph faster - it's your choice.
It's a lovely flowing track that drives really well.
Just one warning - be REALLY careful if it is wet. Ideally, spend the wet sessions in the cafe.

He’s right up your chuff there. Nothing much you can do with traffic around mind. He’s keen to get by I think.

You can hear the shrill of your revvi engine which is really weird compared to the sound of the RV8 that sounds like it’s at tickover at any revs They sound so slow lol.
You can hear the tyres screaming in some of those slow corners on that Chim. It’s faster than it looks even at granny speeds or without sticky tyres speeds are reduced considerably. Looking at the body roll it’s on nice road shocks by the look of it rather than more track focused stuff but I’m probably completely wrong
Well done Porterpainter for taking the plunge, you will have an enjoyable day. Just take it steady from the bottom of the mountain back round to the main straight then give it some once you are straightened up. The rest of the circuit is fairly safe but be careful round the Gooseneck as this can catch you out if you try to go too fast on the wrong line but there is plenty of run off if you get it wrong. Don't accelerate hard up the mountain, if you get airborne you are in trouble and always do a cooling down lap, as being a novice you will tend to use the brakes much more than you really need to and they will get very hot. We were all novices once and in my case it's been great fun for the last 35 years.
Just hope we can get a few more novices to come along and keep this trackday alive.

This. If you have what is known as an open pit Lane the track will be very busy for about an hr or so in the morning with everyone keen to get on track. Learn the turn in & apex points which will be marked with cones, thats always the smoothest way.
It’s a long day and 5 laps is a long time if your not used to it so you have much more time than you might think. If it’s particularly busy early doors use this time to ask for a few passenger rides. You can learn the track a lot easier from the passenger seat. All this info will go in. You will be busy on track driving later so this allows you time to look around, pick up where to brake or what parts of the track to be careful on etc. Other than a driving Instructor this is the best way to get acclimatised.
You are under no obligation to go faster than you or your car feels comfortable and as the day goes on the track thins out. You then have open spaces without the faster cars rushing by quite so often. Often they have broken their car by 2 pm so your free of there menace after that,,,,,,,,,,,,,, haha X
Take spare brake pads.
You will be amazed how fast you use up road pads with 2 -3 heavy braking zones per lap. Your better off putting in new ones and bed them in before you go. A full depth pad will withstand much more heat than a half worn one. The half worn set which might last another 5/10,000 miles on the road will be destroyed within 50 miles on track. Three emergency type stops each lap can easily overheat road pads. We might do one emergency stop a year on them ordinarily. Designed to heat up quick and stop you. Constant heavy use simply overheats them or the brake fluid. For this and many reasons owners of more standard cars can expect to have to let the car cool down and only do about 1/2 dozen laps each time and you’ll still feel the brakes slowly fading as they get hotter so you have to drive to the cars spec. Ignore faster cars with more sporty brakes as there is a reason why they can drive faster and usually it’s more mods / experience but mostly mods

I think with other Tvr owners around you you are as safe as your ever likely to be with generally very good road manners and other owners just enjoying the occasion.
It’s mostly about normal road cars making a bit of noise without braking the law as it is about going fast.
A memorable occasion I’m sure to enjoy one day.
Hethal or is it Hethel Lotus famous test track with other Tvr mates was really good fun though a few of us had car issues that day sadly. For me it was one of those special days because of the history and people who have driven round that place. Cadwell must be about the most desired track to drive amongst many a petrolhead in Britain so to do it with a Tvr group it has to be a very special moment. Memories and all that.
