Update from Shuttleworth...
Following the latest Government guidance, from Saturday 21 March 2020 Shuttleworth will be closing our Play Area, Visitor Centre & gift shop, and Shuttleworth Collection hangars to the public. Weddings and events currently still running where possible.
A limited menu ‘take-out’ service will be available from the restaurant.
While these indoor spaces remain closed, Shuttleworth Swiss Garden will be open to the public from 10.00-17.00 FREE of CHARGE.
From Monday 23 March this will also include the Parkland (also 10.00-17.00). Please note the car park will be locked by 17.30, no overnight parking is permitted.
Shuttleworth Trust’s executive director, Rebecca Dalley said, “Everyone needs to keep safe and healthy at this difficult time, and we are pleased to offer our facilities to everyone at this difficult time, whilst maintaining social distancing.
Old Warden Park was last opened for the public health during WW2, when Dorothy Shuttleworth made good use of the house and grounds as a convalescent home for recovering soldiers, this quiet and peaceful setting was ideal. Shuttleworth Swiss Garden is looking magnificent at this time of year, and can provide a great deal of enjoyment and mental wellbeing.”
Dogs on leads are permitted on the parkland. Toilets and a scaled-down catering offer will be available where possible.
Please be mindful of the latest Government guidance. We will be keeping our social media regularly updated with content, and look forward to visitors enjoying our outdoor space.
Many of our volunteers and members are self-isolating at this time, we wish everyone well and hope everyone can keep positive at this worrying time.
