TVRCC Home Counties: Suggested event - Lancaster Museum
Discussion
Hi all!
We have an event suggestion which I would like to gauge the interest of, a visit to the Lancaster museum.
Essentially, it is museum dedicated to the Lancaster Bomber and its history - plus has one of the few
Lancaster Bombers in the world housed there.
The cost is £7 each for a group of 10-15 to enter and walk around or we can hire a guide for an additional
£15.
https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk
The location is Spilsby PE23-4DE - about 84 miles from Biggleswade.
The runout would have to be on a Saturday & we could have lunch on the way.
If you are interested in this event, then let me know and if we have at least 12 people,
then I'll get it sorted.
Thanks!

Hi all
Unfortunately, I have not had enough responses to the original email to be able to confirm that this event will go ahead.
So, I will do one last call...
The event is proposed for the 27th of April and need to confirm at least 10 people for that date.
The event details were below.
If I can get ten people available for that date, then we'll go ahead, if not, then we'll have to can the event.
Thanks!

As responses have been mixed, we have only booked 10 places for those people who confirmed they were able to come...
Details are 27th April starting at 1030 or 11am.
Cost £7pp + £15 for the group for a guide
Location: Spilsby PE23-4DE
We can add more, but you will need to confirm to me you want to attend and date is ok.
Thanks!

Our main event for April was the outing to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, which took place on the 27th – just as the good weather had moved on. We all – well most of us - meet up at the services just outside of Peterborough and had a… diverse route up to the site. I say diverse as we split up on the way and only came back together again when we got there. Well – it was a tricky route. We entered the museum at about 1015 and after having some late breakfast, met our guide for a tour around the site.
The Lincolnshire Heritage site is where they are currently rebuilding a Lancaster bomber, so we had a great detailed tour around the restoration hanger and an up close look at the bomber itself – which was fascinating. The tour lasted about an hour after which everyone split up and went around the rest of the site to explore themselves. Much like Stowe Maries – another hanger-based museum – the site is very much work in progress, but there were lots of great little exhibits hidden here and there which made the tour very much worth while. In other words, it was a great Saturday out!

Three of the engines were tested last weekend, enabling the Lancaster to taxi:
