I need an iPOD docking station for an iPOD Nano as below.

I want one permanently located in my lounge. Any suggestions for a decent priced unit?

Thank you.

Sorry, I just plug mine directly into my amp using a decent quality lead and turn the sound settings off on the ipod, charging it through a normal i-pod charger.

The only portable dock I've got is a logitech mm50, which isn't a rich enough sound for a living room. Great in the kitchen / bathroom / bedroom though!

Bose do some fantastic sounding docks - from memory you're looking at about £200.

Depends what you consider a decent price pal.

I bought my girlfriend the fatman - something like £300ish with speakers - a while ago. The warm sounding valve amp is an ideal partner to the compressed music. might not be ideal in a large room though.

Bose one sounds great, surprising for Bose, but it's true. Bit pricey, but worth it if you don't want to faff on with amps and stuff.

Au contraire smile

The Fatman (albeit hybrid one) is very capable in a large room but you have to ditch the terrible speakers.

I have an i-Tube Red and although it probably isn't as warm as the all valve units isn't bad at all and is quite happy driving larger speakers. That kind of puts the price up though.

This may be a litte controversial but I've listened to the Bose/B&W offerings and partnered with a decent pair of speakers, the Fatman is way superior soundwise. The others have it down on convenience and size though.

I have a bose one, as I sacked off all my linn gear LP12 etc etc becasue it was too much faff. Looks nice, sounds OK, but I'm sure you could find something better

Listened to the new B&O Beosound 8 docking station yesterday. Truly f-ing gobsmackingly amazing. Loads better than even the B&W zeppelin. How the fk they create that sound from such a small device... i don't know.

You can't post that! You'll have people who haven't seen or heard it saying it must be rubbish, and style over substance, based purely on an outdated idea of the company that made it.

It's the carbon 2 she's got, and to be fair it's in a room 14' square and can go fairly high with no probs... but I just made the point as it wouldn't be my first choice if power was on the top of the agenda, although like you say some larger sensitive speakers would address that.

I didnt't evan audition the B&W, speakers/low level electronics occupying the same box is fundamentally wrong IMO, and then there's the soundstaging.
