Just got a £600 rebate from the water board for 10 years worth of incorrect charges, so thought I’d treat myself. I have narrowed down my new TV search to these 2 Panasonics.

TX-L37G20B LED Cheapest seen £575
TX-P37X20B Plasma Cheapest seen £389

I can afford both but am wondering which to go for. The L37 is bursting with features such as HD freeview and HD freesat, every connection type possible and countless other features, but I think they will be kind of wasted on me. I don’t watch a huge amount of broadcast TV, mainly DVD movies plus the news and any International rugby games when on. Must say I like the idea of free sat though for when my freeview Skybox packs up.

Have seen both in action and was impressed by both. I know they have both received great reviews, but always like to hear any views from owners.
I am leaning towards the Plasma as the spec sounds just right for my type of viewing. It does lack nice to have features, but I doubt I’d ever get to use them anyway.

Thanks in advance.

The first one you mentioned, I think you mean a 37G20. This doesnt have LED backlights, but standard CCFL. If you are going to make use of Freesat then might be the one to go for. If not then go for the 37X20 and hook up a Humax PVR to give you recording and HD transmissions, all for around £50.00 over your budget.

DVD movies, fast paced action/sports, HD FreeSat - all point towards the 42" G20 Plasma.
It'll cost more than the rebate probably, but then for something you'll be using for 4-5 years before thinking of changing, the difference pales into insignificance.

I'd also go for a 42G20 over almost anything under £1k. Can be had for under £700 with a blu ray player.

Its funny you mention the 42" G20 as I have decided to go for that one in my absence of a reply on here, as it was same price as the L37 in John Lewis. Plasma for the win :-)

Thanks all.

Just check a few prices in the area and get JLP to do the NKU pricematch.

Got mine from JL this way.

Have been surfing prices and taking their NKU rules into account, I dont think I can get it any better than £699. So will try and blag a free Bluray instead.
