I am reluctant to subscribe to Sky or Virgin Media due to the fact I work overseas, and even when at home my TV viewing is extremely limited. I live alone otherwise I would subscribe, but what are my options? Freesat, which to me seems like Freeview with a couple more cheesy movie channels? Freeview HD, which I'm not sure if contains more channels than just standard Freeview? Is there anything else out there???

You may have answered your own question in line 1. BBC1,2,4, Ch4, and Film4 is all you really need

And the rest is available in one form or another on the web using things like TVCatchup and other more dubious streaming sites.

I've got about 10 million channels, but only watch BBC1 and 2, STV/ITV, C4 and their HD counterparts. The rest is pants!

Totally agree, all of which you'll get on FvHD or FsHD, so why anyone pays is beyond me.

So the general concensous is get Freeview HD?? I was thinking about that to be honest. I currently have Freeview and I guess it's adequate, I was just thinking about the Festive Season coming up and having some movies etc (albeit they will probably have been repeated a million times!! Lol).

Freesat is brilliant if you like sport, I got it for the world cup and get champions league and numerous bbc and itv hd programmes. Everything else on skysports is a good excuse to go down the pub thumbup
