Hi all,

Recently my teach home cinema system has been having issues playing DVDs. It will read them ok and start playing but then will "stutter" and eventually stop.
It's not the disc as I have tried a few different DVDs.
Perhaps the laser needs a clean?
What to do?

Its the 1st sign that the laser is on the way out, you may get it back for a little while with a clean but it wont last long.

Don't pay extra for a 'DVD cleaner' as a 'CD cleaner' will do the same job wink (if it works at all). You can get them in Maplins, though probably Amazon would be cheaper.

Had this with my Panasonic Home Cinema. It got more and more unhappy about playing DVD's until it gave up completely, but still plays music CD's OK. Apparently they use different heads?

Wasn't too bothered, now got a nice BD player smile

Yup, there are 2 different lasers joined with a prism, so one laser can fail and the other work fine.
