Can anyone help me out with this problem?
I am aware of the current atmospheric conditions
which are or have been affecting reception.
My TV is a Panasonic TXP42X20 ( great set by the way
for the money) and my recorder is the Humax PVR9300T.
My question is why the reception from the TV built in
Freeview is far better than the reception through the
Humax.I do live in a poor reception area but would have
expected the Humax reception to be at least as good as that
from the TV. Switchover in my area is not until April 2012,
which is a long time to wait. ITV and Channel 4 are the worst
affected.
Any advice please?

How are the TV and HUMAX "chained" together? My 9200T has the Aerial going straight in and then it goes to a VCR and then onto the TV. The TV has the worst reception whereas the HUMAX hasn't "lost" any channels despite the fiasco that is the Emley Moor DSO works.

Thanks for your reply. Aerial goes straight to
Humax and then loops to TV.
I have tried various ways but nothing changes.

The Humax could just have a lower gain tuner or it could actually be faulty or it could be tuned to a different transmitter to the Panasonic (they do like to throw you a curve ball). Is it bad to the point where it breaks up?

Yes,ITV & 4 break up very badly.
BBC channels are fine.
Both the TV and Humax were tuned in
by their automatic search, so surely they
would tune to the same transmitter?
I am coming round to thinking that the
Humax has a lower gain tuner as you said.

The HUMAX has a pretty good Tuner so I would think that's the problem.

Nope! There is a problem where I am in the NW where there basically one piece of freeview will tune into winter hill and another in the same setup will go for Moel-Y-Parc. If your in an area where your aerial can see more than 1 transmitter then its pot luck as to what tunes into what.
Best thing to do is to look up your local transmitter frequencies then do a default settings on your humax, when it starts to auto tune then stop it before it finds anything then using your frequencies do a manual tune.

I find the Humax tuners to be more sensitive than a lot of others (or the filters are weaker). As Headcase said, do a manual setup on the box.

Thanks all,
I have tried manual tuning and it
made no difference.

If its tuned in correctly and the Panna is working fine from the same aerial then the Humax is faulty.
