So decision made.
It's going to be Panasonic.
It's going to be Plasma.
It's going to be 50" (unless SWMBO gets her way and opts for a smaller model).

But I just can't get my head around the differences between a V and a G.
V is wireless enabled, G is wireless ready - so both wireless capable
V has the Infinate Black Pro - can pro be more black than infinate?
I'm not overly fussed about the sound output because it'll be hooked up to a 5.1/7.1 Home cinema.

It'll be used for less than 3 hours of TV a week, but heavily used for films, we have a Panasonic BD80 BD Player and a bit of gaming, currently Wii and old xbox but may one day go for xbox360 or PS3.

I'm not in the market to upgrade often - our current TV is about 10 years old so future proof is good.

So guys, will I notice much difference given my viewing style between the G and the V? I notice John Lewis are not listing the V on the website at the moment.

Then if you think you'll have the TV longer than 4-5 years before getting the urge to upgrade again, you might be wise to throw the VT20 into the equation as well, especially at that size.

No,no,no!! hehe

Budget just won't allow 3D and to be fair I don't think I want it.

No, it's a V or a G. One minute I'm a go the whole hog V, the next I'm save some £££'s and stick with a G - but then I worry I'm going to miss something.

I was in exactly the same situation under a week ago.

My budget allowed for the V comfortably however I walked out the shop with an order for the G.

The benefits just did not work out cost efficient.

IMHO, the G is for normal people, the V is for people with a hobby in AV that can even tell the difference.

Mark, the VT is more than just 3D, regular 2D viewing will be enhanced with the new cells that glass is using.
Whilst the VAT increase is going to occur in the New Year, I'd be tempted to sit on the sidelines for 5-6 months, to see what the new models offer by way of trickle-down.

Most reviews I have read have concluded that the V is not worth the extra outlay over the G.

Thanks PJ good advice but I'm just not in that ball park budget wise, plus I want to change sooner rather than later. Be a bit poo to have the 'home cinema' refurbed with a less than ideal TV within.

Others,
Thanks also for the help - looks like I'll be saving a few quid and order the G.
