Plasma vs LCD?
Discussion
Unfortunately the search isn't working; I'm sure this subject has been done to death!
I'm after a TV for my lounge - I was always under the impression that LCD was better than Plasma due to a longer life span of use - which is why I went for an LCD for my bedroom. Now I'm after a TV for the lounge which will be used for cable tv, some HD channels and hooking up a pc with a HD graphics card to watch films on. I originally looked at a 1080p LCD 42 incher, but have now noticed that for only about £100 more I can get a 50 inch 1080p Plasma tv.. All the 50 inch tv's seem to be Plasma also - is this better in bigger sizes then?

Just bear in mind Plasmas need regassing every 6 months or 2000 view hours.
I though it was every 10000 hours. I was actually told that again in the shop today. His mate in the pub had told him, so it was obviously true.My plasma is a few months off being ten years old and it most likely past the stated 'life' of it, that is the point at which apparently the brightness has reduced to 50%.
As far as I can see mine is exactly as good as when I first had it.

Should give a smoother picture for longer, if you believe the marketing blurb!

IMO Over 42" it has to be Plasma, especially if watching Standard def content - best thing to do is go somewhere that they set the TVs up properly for side by side comparisons.
We sell Panasonic TVs where I work - I support the IT systems, not sell anything - but get a good chance to compare them side by side. When my parents wanted a new TV, we decided that the 37" Panasonic Plasma was the best - and it is stunning for the money.
If you're spending a bit of money try to get a free warranty thrown in.
