I have been looking at upgrading my 42" Panasonic plasma for ages; well since i got it 4 years ago.

I am looking at 50" screens but ideally wanted a 58". Why is is the price so difference so vast? 50" is approx £1300 and a 58" is £3500!! Don't get it!

It is a shame Pioneer have stopped selling their LX5090 screens! I would love one!

Any idea what Panasonic I should go for? My budget is £2k tops! I dont want 3D nonsense TV.

If you don't want 3D then the Panasonic TX-P50V20 is the baby.....

I saw one these 50V20 models today and thought it looked great, picturewise and general appearance too. I did wonder though why the dear 3D models don't have the nice brushed metal surround just a cheap looking gloss black one...seems the wrong way round to me. I hope to get a 50V20 myself in the not to distant future. smile

I saw it in 'House of Fraser' so not particularly competative price wise there IIRC it was more than your best price though. I tend not to buy neccesarily on price, either going to a local independant firm or I have bought from John Lewis before and they've price matched anyway, plus they give their 5 year guarentee as well.

I'm not too fussed about 3D really, especially for TV. I tend to watch films on my projector so it's just as well I'm not to bothered about upgrading that to 3D as it will be a major expense looking at the prices of the new JVC projectors due out soon...

Keep your eyes scanned on the AVForums classifieds. I have seen a few top Pioneers for sale recently, most with a transferable warranty....

...second-hand obviously, but still. Worth it for perfection!

e.g. http://www.avforums.com/forums/tv-projector-classi...

Ok, this one is now sold, but you get the idea.

50V20 is the 5090 Kuro engine with slightly superior film.

It's actually the marginally better set, though the case isn't as nice.
