currently i have sky plus, am wanting to cancel this and buy the above freesat recorder plus a panasonic g20. am i able to use the existing connections to take advantage of both tuners on the foxsat box? i have google'd this and it suggest i need a quad lnb dish, i figured having sky plus with two tuners it would probably be the same but htought i'd check first as have no idea and dont want to was £210.

again thanks for the help and patience i promise i will stop asking simple questions very soon.

thanks again and have a good day.

Yes you can use existing two Sat feeds on the new freesat box.

I am in the same position though do have a quad LNB. I have just bought a Humax Foxsat HDR 320GB from Humax Direct. OK it is a refurb box but comes with one year warranty - £185 delivered. They are £230 from Richer Sounds or £250 from Argoose.

Might be an option if you haven't already bought.

I now need to figure out how to feed it using UHF to my other 2 TVs and use the existing Sky "magic eyes".

Erm sorry, do I need a quad lnb then? I took the earlier post to be telling me I would be fine with the current sky plus set up. What I need it to do is allow me to record two channels at the same time as watching something already recorded just like sky plus. I have two inputs into the sky plus box if this helps.

Have already bought the box but can cancel the order if it won't do what I need.
Thanks for any help.

You can use the existing feeds from the dish to your new box. If you also want to watch Freesat via the builtin tuner o nthe telly you will need to bring a 3rd cable from the dish. Depending on your LNB [ thing that points at the dish ]yu may need to fit a quad version. See if you have any spare outputs. Dont forget you will also be able to use the Freeview tuner in the telly if you dont want to bring anothe rfeed from the dish

Can't get freeview as have no aerial and have been told by neighbours that signal is rubbish so not worth putting up, so would need to solely rely on the satellite dish is there an easy way of seeing what type of lnb is up there without climbing up as my house is on a very steep hill and I'm a little scared of heights!

Im not too bothered about using the tv's internal freesat tuner as two feeds would be enough is the quad lnb only needed if I wanted to utilise this third tuner? Main thing I'm interested in is the recording of two channels simultaneously.

You'll be able to record two at once but wont be able to watch anything different at the same time. If you can see two spare outputs on the LNB then you have a quad. Defo worth bringing anoter cable down as it shouldn't cost you much more than £50.00

I think I'm now being simple and I really do apologise for these questions, bit why would I need the third feed to watch something already recorded? Assumed this would sit on the hard drive inside the box and would be payable in theory even if no feed was being received.

No...the third feed would just be for the rare occasions when you might want to record two programmes at the same time and watch another, thus giving you three tuners. With your current set up you'll be able to

record 2 and watch no other

record one and watch one other

Hope thats OK!

Find it easier to explain these foibles in the store!
quoted to try and get my head around this.

record 2 and watch no other, is that no other live broadcast which would require the third tuners, or by watch no other does that include the pre recorded programes from the hard drive?

i need something that would allow me to record two live feeds and watch a third pre recorded programme.

do you own your own shop? if so can you get close to the following prices £209 for the foxsat and £709 for panasonic 42g20 as would prefer to buy from a pistonheader instead of a faceless company like amazon even if cost me a little more. feel free to pm me if you dont want to broadcast your prices.

again thanks for the help and sorry im just not built to get tech ideas quickly!

Sorry...Cant compete with those as we dont sell the refurbed boxes. Just go to PanasonicS UK site and use the dealer locator for the nearest independent shop. You will most likely find that they'll be able to get pretty near to those prices and give you a 5 year warranty to boot.

Good luck
