OK, I have (some) of my new Hifi kit at long last. Thing is, I need to wire it up.

While I know well enough to keep away from high st. con merchants, I would like some advice on where to buy, preferably online?

I think I need:

  • One 1m digital COAX
  • One 2m digital COAX
  • One short (50cm) minitoslink (3.5mm optical jack) to regular toslink
  • Whatever cables I need to connect a turntable to a preamp (short as possible)
  • Cables to go from the TT to the speakers, which need 1/4" jacks on the speaker end.
The speakers are a pair of active studio reference monitors, the TT and preamp are yet to be bought, but likely to be a Genie MkIII and a Cambridge 540P. If anyone can suggest anything better for the same money, then please tell me. I am finding myself somewhat out of my depth with all this; normally I stick to TV and computers; good audio is a dark art to me!

I've been buying digital cables from CPC of late, super cheap, and well they're digital! Seem decent quality though.

Also bought from here before, decent quality, more expensive.

I have used Audiovisual Online for all of my cable purchases. Cannot fault their service, and good prices too

I've used www.tvcables.co.uk before now. A reasonable service.
