Hi guys,

I have decided I want a complete new set up, however I have no idea what is good or even what I need for that matter...

Basic criteria -

- 42" Plasma

- Surround Sound, ideally 5.1 as I want a sub involved, I can fit up to 2 large floor mounted speakers however I mostly need quite small ones although not too small

- New cables

My budget is £1000, if I can spend less, great.

The setup will be used 99% for gaming, PS3 and Xbox360 so a TV focused towards gaming is needed.

Any recommendations on a setup for my needs?

Thanks in advance thumbup

I'd go for used kit.

Spend £300 on a Denon/Onkyo amp
£300-ish on a 5.1 speaker setup that someone's selling privately.
Speaker wire £10ish for a long reel of it off of ebay
Pack of banana plugs for about £10

Doesn't leave you much for a TV frown

AV Forums are good for classifieds.

Thanks for the advice, I don't want shattering quality audio to be honest as I simply don't need it so not sure if I need an amp etc.

Also another thing worth mentioning, having the speaker system wireless would be a MASSIVE bonus!

Well if you buy a complete package and decide that actually home cinema is an amazing thing to be spending money on you will have a right pain in the arse upgrading.

Used seperates are the way to go, I paid less for my brilliant Amp+Speakers than I would of for a mid range home theatre in a box.
