Bose sondwave alternative - is there one?

My daughter has just left home and wants a Bose soundwave but can't afford one. When I first got my Bose I remember seeing a thread on here listing alternatives but have had no luck in finding it or similar (it was over 4 years ago mind )
Any information would be greatly appreciated, I thank you

If there is someone techie around to help her then I'd recommend a Logitech Squeezebox Boom. Could be a bit of a faff to set up on her own though!
