Dear all, I'm looking to replace my old 42" Panny, and since I've moved into a bigger apartment, I need a bigger screen (will be used for TV, Blu-ray and PS3 gaming). I've looked around locally and this looks like a good set for the price, but I'm struggling to find any reviews online - does anyone know anything about these, and is the spec up to scratch for what I want? Viewing distance will be about 17 feet.

(Please note price is in SGD, so divide by 2 for GBP)

Or would this be a better choice?

There also seem to be more big LCD panels coming out - what's the better option for picture quality?

Nope, at the moment (after Pioneer bowed out of plasma), Panasonic is the BMW, Merc and Audi. Not perfect, but best currently available.

But not at that price point - am I missing something? Or am I buying {eugeot and getting Merc? I only ask as my last big Panny crapped up after 16 months?

That's an older model Panny you have in your link. The current 'state of the art' is their excellent(but slightly flawed) 50" 3D VT20 - at about £2,000GBP.

However, even at the budget price point I would go for a Panny rather than Samsung or LG. Think you were unlucky with your old one - but I do make sure I have 5yr warranty on my plasma purchases anayway! smile

Genuinely interested.

What are these slight flaws of which you speak?
