I want a big 3D TV 55" or bigger, my Sharp LCD is knackered I was looking at the Sony LCD I know there is a lot on knowledge on hear and it sways to plasma, I have had 2 plasma sets and the pick was not as good as the one on the LCD, I know the plasma’s were old and is an unfair judgment but with some manufactures dropping plasma and producing more LCD screens, also screen burn, my mate has a knackered flagship Pioneer with image burn, it was only 2 years old, is that why they pulled out of the TV market, though judged to be one of the best
Thanks
Neil

Doh...if the mods read this, I'm an idiot...thought I clicked on Home & Garden, and reported this thread as 'wrong forum.'
Sorry.

Pioneer pulled out of the TV market due to corrosive discounting and consumers believing that they could compare Korean Dog Turd with Japanase Kobe Fillet.

Over 55" and 3D then the best in the market, by a massive margin, is the Panasonic 65VT20

Or more fairly because the only products that they offered while admittedly better than the competition were absolutely miles more expensive.

Exactly like...

the Panasonic 65VT20
Certainly the best set out there at the moment (if you can actually get hold of one), but even so - the premium is so huge (over 2 grand above the 63" Samsung offering or the price of roughly 3 and a half 60" LGs) that only people who must have the best regardless of price will even consider it. The difference between Panasonic and Pioneer is or course that the former has a broad range with huge sales volume against which to offset its R&D whereas the latter had a tiny niche range with an unsustainable business model.

If you really want one they are still showing delivery slots for my postcode area. Payment is a bit of a pain as they will let you go through the checkout and put card details in but won't take the money from the card as the value is too high. They will only take BACS or CHAPS. I paid extra for next day delivery then got an email informing me about it. They bank with HSBC so if you have an HSBC account it would be instant.

PM me your number if you want one and we can sort something out.

I would point out that they are ultimately part of Fiat - a much larger group with diverse product, large volume and multiple brands to spread R&D costs (there is more to it than Ferrari building engines for Maserati). Pioneer - however - were not as far as I am aware a subsidiary of someone like BenQ... rolleyes
