Options for boosting my TV sound?
Discussion
My ancient CRT TV has gone pop and has been replaced by a 32" Sony LCD. As I suspected the new TV is a bit lacking in the sound department, so I need something to give it more "oomph".
I don't really want a full-blown 5.1 system - in any case I'm not allowed speaker wires trailing round the living room or huge speakers either side of the TV! So it has to be something discrete but effective. Budget is around £100 (apparently equivalent to a "going out" pair of shoes).
At the moment I have Sky+ and DVD player connected via scart, but will be going to Sky HD and a Blu-Ray player in the near future. The Blu-Ray player might also have to double as an occasional "hifi" to spin up the odd music/MP3 CD.
Top of the current possibilities list are:
- A cheap soundbar (probably Sharp at this price?)
- JBL Spot 2.1 speakers
Other options? Suggestions? I know it won't be pukka home cinema but c'est la vie....

Why would you have to have wires trailing around the room? You could pin them to she skirting, run them under the carpet / under the floorboards, get hollow skirting to run the cables in, chase the walls, there are so many options if you think about it for a few minutes.
If you are going to HD and Blu Ray soon, by not having 5.1 you are missing out on 50% of the experience ie surround sound.
For £100 I would suggest looking 2nd hand. You need an amp and speakers, not a all in 1 DVD player integrated thing as you will be getting a blu ray player.
Try fleabay, but I would seriously give 5.1 more consideration
Oh, and while you are on fleabay, see if you can get yourself a spine or a pair of bks as well.

If you fit the rears when she is out, it will take her a while to spot them
Was closer to £400 when I got one last xmas, £280 is a great price.

Could you stretch to something like this?
bolts to the back of the screen
