720p Vs 1080p again
Discussion
Im sure this has probably been done to death, but unfortuanately PH search is down at the moment, and I cant be arsed to wait.
Considering buying a used TV, both 40" Samsung's 720p = £120 and the 1080p is £300 and newer.
I dont have bluray or sky and sit about 7ft away from the tv. I dont understand the difference between the two.

7ft on a 40" screen won't let your eyes fully resolve all the extra detail a 1080p signal provide.Considering buying a used TV, both 40" Samsung's 720p = £120 and the 1080p is £300 and newer.

Given you won't have a 1080p signal with no B-R player/recorder, then it's a completely moot point irrespective.
Besides the extra pixels needing to be "guessed" at by the on-board algorithm, the 1080 native pixel display might have better contrast ratio, and other useful benefits.
Give us the model numbers, and we'll have a look, and tell you which makes the most sense all round.

Where are you getting these from?! £120 for 40" is an insanely good price.Considering buying a used TV, both 40" Samsung's 720p = £120 and the 1080p is £300 and newer.
