Will this 3D TV compromise 2D performance?
Discussion
I primarily want a new 46" TV for 2D, but this Samsung LCD 3D TV seems good value, and in fact comet have a decent deal with it plus a blu-ray player.
The thing is that 3D isn't a deal breaker at all, but the set seems a good deal (I know that LCD will mean blacks aren't as black as LED, and the set wont be as thin as an LED), but will chosing the 3D tv actually be at the expense of 2D performance? I tend to hang on to TV's for ages, so a bit of future proofing wouldn't go amis (is there likely to be any 3D standards wars?). I'm looking to spend around £1100 for the set, and no doubt another couple of hundred on the sound.
I was otherwise looking at the Sony kdl46ex503 or Samsung UE46C6530U if that helps..
Cheers

I had this same predicament myself, i was looking at a samsung led, but for price and quality the panasonic blew it away, depending on the panel it might be similar money the panasonic vt20 in 50 inch really is in a different league.
the vt20 blows even the v20 away in terms of black performance even on the none hd channels most programs look hd.
Go panasonic you really wont regret it. Everyone who has seen this tv has said it blows any other panel out of the water.

V20 and VT20 have the same mechanical construction, so if you saw a difference in constrast it was down the setup and lighting.the vt20 blows even the v20 away in terms of black performance even on the none hd channels most programs look hd.

Both use the Kuro engine (from Pioneer) with the latest Panasonic film - which is why it performs so well. Nothing could touch the 5090 so nothing can touch the V/VT20

Went to buy one of the g20 or v20 tv's the other day but only go down to a 42 size. Is there any plans to release either a 40 or a 36 inch version? If not what would be the best options as really don't want larger than a 40.
Thanks for any help.
Dimensions are given on Panasonic's website - get the tape measure out, and put it up against the TV that's on the stand. Thanks for any help.
Fretting over whether to compromise with the 37" X20 over the 42G or V20, is somewhat daft, as the 2" diagonal increase correlates to very small increases in height and width over the 40" you're considering.
